Red Switches

Get over it
What the heck is going on? I wanted to change a three way switch so I made sure I was in the route session, deleted the switch or junction, made the adjustments that I wanted, placed the revised track arrangement and when I placed the switch the arrows were all red. No matter what I try in either session nothing works. I cannot get the switch arrows to be both green and red. Haven't run into this before. It's just a simple switch, no fancy track work to complicate things. Any suggestions or ideas?

That was the first thing I made sure of. I made the changes in route layer. I tried it in session layer with the same results. I have no idea whats going on.

In surveyor, if your switchstand of choice still shows red/red, just click using the change turnout tool (you use it to set initial switch direction in surveyor) on one arrow and it should go green to one side. Happens to me all the time in 2010.

Ok, track gang says this 3-way is too expensive to maintain. Will be converted to a standard 2-way.

OK. Don't mess with layers. Just use the change turnout button found in the signals, switches and track sign tab. Click to change turnout and Voila. Switch now is ready for driver mode.

You say when you placed the switch ? Usually it auto places itself when you make a junction, you using animated junctions ?

Also, make sure the arrows are centered on the switch's vertex when viewed from directly overhead.

Admittedly they were avoided due to their difficulty in manufacture and maintenance, but M&Pa had one... Interesting catalog you linked there.
