Red light question

How are the red signals supposed to work in Trainz? Last night I was driving north in an RDC picking up passengers on the VT-NH loop map from USLW. I had an Amtrack train set up in AI to be coming south so I was paying close attention to the signals on the track. As I was traveling under a green signal on a single track and I came upon another signal that turned red when I had no other options available to me and wound up getting hit head on. :o I had the Amtrack train traveling under a "go to" command as I do not want to have to babysit the consist and switch the signals for it while I am driving my own train.

Also, if anyone can offer a better way to set up the AI to help prevent this, that would be appreciated, also. I inserted a wait until not red command but did not get the chance to test it yet. I am not sure if that will prevent this from happeneing but if I understand how the signals are supposed to work, it would be helpful. :udrool:

That is one of the problems with single track. If you place signals on single track lines the signal only looks as far as the next signal and if clear the AI will proceed. hence you get a bottleneck when two trains meet or crash.
