realistic smooth spline

hey does anyone know if there is a way to hack trainz 2009 so that the smooth spline function isn't so wide. It would be nice if the level area was only as wide as the tracks.

Thanks

I would also like to see the area narrowed a bit or perhaps an option to control the width of the smooth spline.

I think that has to do with the grid size in surveyor. Same as any elevation adjustments. I don't have 09, but I thought it had a smaller grid than 06.

1mm texture fill on the 5 and 10 would be great too.. its very annoying how large the paint area is when its small...

Yeah, I agree 100% with that as well. I would also like some way to control the "hardness" of the paint. What I mean by that.. Well, I would like to lay down a base paint, maybe a grass? And then take a dirt and blend it in to the grass, but not totally removing the grass. This happens sometimes on the edges of two different paints when they meet, but if I could do it by design, that would be nice.

so I take it that's a no?? haha. I guess I'll just have to continue doing it by hand. I can do about 20 miles in an hour depending on the grades.

You might try some of the tracks on the DLS that have built-in embankments. This is also another way to get around the 'floating track' syndrome.

It's not just the grid side ... it doesn't do the minimal amount of smoothing required. On very uneven terrain you can keep hitting smooth and it will smooth out to two grid vertexes away from the track. Even one smooth, however, alters that second vertex.

I also find it annoying.

Hi crohakon: When your doing blend on your texturing, try to hit the bracket key at the same time and it might help..I know I do that when texturing to mainly get away from the pattern look..

Bob Cass:) :)

Yeah, I do use the [] keys to change the rotation of the pattern, but that does not help with subtle blending of one or more textures.

Move the mouse quickly over the existing texture when placing your dirt over grass, for example. This will help blend the two together.

The floating track and issue is getting better with some of the new assets. The YARN roads and some of the newer track have a thicker grading to it so it doesn't look like a sheet of plastic wrap floating on the ground.

I also know of this technique, the moving quickly across with the second texture but it is not easy to control. That is how I normally do it but if there was a setting that allowed me to do similar without having to be so random it would be helpful.

There is a slight delay built into the texturing process, if you give the mouse button a series of brief taps you will get a more transparent texture.

What I've been doing is using a really small brush size for things like dirt; it's a pretty slow process, but it's better than nothing.
