(Real poll) What TS12 version are you using?

It's been awhile since the controversial Service Pack 1 for TS12 was released, supposedly a major step forward from the last stable build, #49922. Here's a quick little poll to see what proportion have jumped onto the bandwagon, useful info for route builders and content creators who are wondering if it is worth the effort (and probably some grief) to update their routes and creations respectively, to SP1 standards and the amount of users they are potentially alienating should they decide otherwise.

There could still be HF4 or even and SP2 to round up all the loose ends SP1 left behind, but these are just speculation and the poll should only be a snapshot of the user base at present. Please, take 10 seconds of your time and kindly share with us which TS12 version you're using, thank you! For those under build 49922, choose that option anyway as there is little difference.

Cheerio,
Nicholas

I'm on TS12 version 58414 (which is SP1 with Hot Fix 1, 2 & 3 all applied) and loving it!
These updates fixed many issues with the earlier, purportedly "stable" version, 49922 and coming to this forum and hearing how others had fixed residual issues with various assets gave me the motivation to download the necessary tools and learn enough to fix the other errors I'd encountered that weren't otherwise fixed.
So a BIG Thanks to all those forum members who took a positive view of the Service Pack and Hot Fix offerings and shared their knowledge here with fellow members and made a real difference to the performance and appearance of this mighty simulator!

I've voted as well, and use TS12 + SP1 + HF1/2/3.

In my opinion, those who take the time to make assets compatible with SP1 usually see rewards in terms of performance.

I have SP1 HF2 at the moment. Haven't had the time to download HF3, but I'm planning to soon. Even since SP1 came out, haven't had any of the problems people complain about on forums except the missing content error for multiplayer. I'm very happy with all of them so far. I have a lot of payware and freeware from 3rd party sites. Followed the instructions from their sites, ex: Jointedrail, for the fixed content and I have had no problems what so ever.

I also am running TS12+SP1+HF1/2/3 and am enjoying it thoroughly. I think the new shadows look great and have had no problems at all.

I'm using TS12 HF3 (58414) and it works well for me. The only problem I have is one with CM that I reported elsewhere. Azervich has already given me a possible solution.

There are some new scripting features that are useful for debugging and I'm using Andi's nifty new script for that purpose. Highly recommended for scripters. There are a couple of other new popup windows that look interesting but I haven't had time to investigate as yet.

I'm still using 49922. It's the only version of Trainz that I have ever used. I have 4 installs of TS12, and have not done the SP1 thing with any of them. For the time being, I am very happy using 49922.

Cheers....rick

I'm at 58414 and for the most part it works fine. The new error checking is a pain, but it helps keep my content down. If an item shows errors I first ask if I really want/need the item before attempting to fix it. If not, away it goes. If the fix is going to be more than adding a thumbnail or other simple fix, away it goes. I prefer to spend my time running trains, not fixing them.

I am using 49922 as my "main" version on which I create my Routes and generally play however, due to numerous fiascos trying to upgrade using the patches, I created another version on an external HD which is a close mirror of 49922 in terms of content. This I recently managed to patch to 58414 apparently successfully. Having said that, my next decision is do I now patch my "main" version up to 58414 and my current answer is a definite "No".

While 58414 appears to be ok in terms of patching successfully, it is also raising a number of problems. I have had a route where trains would not move on command due to "Unable to plot Route". This was on a Route which worked fine in 49922! The solution was to look for an errored asset and fix it. The asset was not errored in 49922! 58414 is also showing errors on a number of other assets (including skipper1945 tenders) which are not difficult to fix, but are rather frustrating as same does not show in 49922.

In summary, 58414 seems to have a lot of potential for me but I am not prepared to risk assets, and am not looking to do a major overhaul of assets simply because 58414 is "reading them" differently. I feel really sorry for anybody who gets into 58414 without the experience of changing/deleting various config parameters of assets.

Regards. Colin.

G'day, I am using 49922 tried SP1 plus hot fixes and mor hassels than they were worth with with CM locking up and losing its filters and all on a clean install, in game low frame rates popups galore and stutter and frezing so for me it is a hunk of junk which is now deleted.

58414 nothing major wrong with it now other than Fraps causes problems if it's running, so I'm avoiding using Fraps. 49922 kept as a standby and up to date just in case. I never update anything without a working backup of the original.

58414. Trying to troubleshoot a bug where several assets show up "missing dependencies" even though all dependencies are installed. Deleting and reinstalling the bothersome assets seems to have worked.

I'm using 58414 and have mixed feelings about it. I like the merging capabilities that have been fixed and the better scripting as well as the other more subtle things that appear here and there. There are probably more that I haven't discovered yet, and there are others I can't think of at the moment.

What I don't like are the random crashes to the desktop without warning. I never, ever, had that problem with the previous version. What I also don't like are the big pauses in Surveyor which also weren't there before. At the moment I am troubleshooting some things and hopefully the pauses will be repaired, but I'm not so sure about the random crashing.

Over here build 58414, or TS12 + SP1 and HF1/2/3 is in use.
The only thing to mention further is that I switched from my all time use of OpenGL to DirectX, what seemed to preform slightly better after the SP1 update.

I wonder what Malc means when he talks about Fraps. After reading that, I did some test recordings and found the performance better then before in keeping a frame rate for recording of 30 frames a second in full screen (1600x900).

The saga is linked below. Had zero problems since I stopped using Fraps. May just be peculiar to my setup in that it just doesn't like fraps + Trainz. Thinking back I've never been able to workout why Pre SP1 I could sometimes run Trainz and get loads of error messages relating to SpeedTrees in jetlog.txt sometimes with noticeable problems with bits of Tree missing and not rendering properly and other times there was no problem, beginning to think that the jetlog errors may have been due to when I was running Fraps.

I have both 49922 and 58414 installed and i have no problems with 49922 and is the best yet.I don't like 58414 are the random crashes to the desktop without warning too.and the fix and repair daily.

I allso like trainz2010 very much and no problems.

I am stil using 49922, tried all new versions but I am not satisfied yet because:

1. passenger (un)loading still not fixed
2. too early slow driving to yellow/red signals
3. splines missing in surveyor
4. stuttering
