Re-install TS2006, 2009 after crash?

Trainz Addict
Hi;
I have both TS2006 and TS2009 on my machine.
Windows crashed, and I had to re-install Windows.
I found that, even without re-installing, Trainz was still running after I re-created its shortcut, since my Trainz folders were on a separate drive.
So, I never bothered to re-install either TS2006 or TS2009 and have been running this way ever since with no apparent problems.

Is there any reason I should re-install Trainz?
Is there anything the install places in the Windows or Docs and settings folders that I should have for TS to run properly?

Thanks

I don't know if your lucky or it's my lousy luck. Mobo blew, so new mobo which was SATA with one PATA slot for older drives. Used the old slot for my games drive and new SATA hard drive for system. All trainz stuff is still there but can only use built in routes+ sessions. In surveyor I can go round my downloaded routes with stock visible but they will not run.

I wonder whether you had some data corruption when your mobo blew.
My system didn't blow at all, just got a virus that somehow disabled Norton and I started having trouble after that, so I decided to re-install.
I have everything backed up weekly to a removable HDD, so it is safe.

I think that since things seem to be working fine as is, I am not going to bother with a re-install of TRS. Especially since both 2006 and 2009 are running fine.

IMO, I would put your games on the fastest drive, not the old IDE.
I am running RAID0, which offers dramatic increase in disk performance, at the expense of redundancy, but I cannot afford another 2 HDD's to go RAID5 or whatever it would be with 4HDD's and mirroring.

before going to work i was on trainz last night and allways in hope opened CMP before launching, it took about 10 mins before CMP was happy by which time I had to go. Just got back and my saved sessions now work.
Makes you wonder why CMP didn't do its bit before as I kept opening the thing before starting.
Going to sit here for 2 hours now blasting my eardrums out listening to exhausts!!!

I would back up all of your content, so that if (when) your system crashes again, you don't have to deal with getting everything you lost from DLS.
I'm not sure what would happen if, after a crash and re-installing TS you simply restore the backup into the original folders. I mean, would CMP be happy, and list all of your content?

My idea now is to make a complete DVD backup of everything in the TS folder; content and the program files too. That way, you restore, and everything is as it was.

what to back up /make copies of. Local folder.assets.bku. assets.tdx.saved sessions. The whole thing would take hours.
Just spent an hour replying b4 this and pressed the power off button by mistake so this is a precise and far less boring reply.

Set your computer to Hibernate when you press the power button. That way, if you accidentally press it, the computer saves everything before shutting down.

Anyway, wouldn't Windows ask you to save unsaved files before shutting down?
Do you have APCI enabled on your system?
