Razorback Railway Classic Map and TS2012

I have just purchased the 2004/2006 compendium disc from Razorback Railway. Can anyone tell me (in simple terms) how to find and move this map (Razorback Railway Classic) from this disc to 2012?

This map is one of the best I have used.

In one word "You can't" but then that is 2 words.
If you try and copy it from T6 via CDP you will find it is all up the putt.
I have now released the T12 version and it is on the DLS kuid:211842:i00059 will find it.

There is a slight problem with the route. There is no way to get the dependencies needed as the config.txt only has two dependencies listed so there is no way to track or download any asset that is missing.

Alf, I have the same problem with config.txt but opened the route in surveyor and it was there, maybe all dependencies are built-in?

Hi Norm,

Thank you for you effort to to at least share the RBR !!

I just took a quick look at the Hunter area and I see there are come missing Catenary stand/poles and wire.
Also a couple of track miss-alignments and a missing texture at the waters edge......

Hi DaveL
I must admit that instead of letting the Classic Layout die with the rest of the RBR stuff I fixed it to run on T12.
I tested it as best as I could and when I went to upload it to the DLS it was knocked back until I removed all the built in and dependencies that belonged to other people.
I have since deleted my copy and downloaded from the DLS and it appears to be OK.
Perhaps I have some items installed that were not permitted in the upload.
I have also tried to upload some of my activities but they keep getting knocked back for one reason or another.
There are some kiud1701items which belonged to jenolan and he has given me permission to upload them with my own stuff but the upload checker won't have any of it.
So i have just about had enough and will consign all my work to the rubbish bin.
Sorry.

I think he has to upload his own stuff, you can not do that for him. Or you have to make copy's of those items so they get your kuids, but maybe for credit and respects it is better to let him upload his own stuff.

Anyway, it was good to see the old route again.
Btw, I think I noticed 1 consist somewhere halfway, but that might have been a bug on my side as also the industries would not show. I'll check again tonight.

Actually I went into surveyor and made a Save As route under my own name. This one listed the dependencies properly in the config.txt file. I then copied that list and add it to your config.txt , Norm. I was shown as missing 76 assets and was able to download them.

It is a very good route and I used to use it a lot before it was added to Trainz and they broke it. It looks as having been improved since those days. I would hope you would finish as it is close to being complete. Either get Jenolan to send his stuff to the DLS or with his permission put them in your name.

Norm - I might have misunderstood what you tried to do but when you uploaded your route but did you make a single cdp which included the route and all the dependencies or was the route and each of the dependencies uploaded as separate cdp's? If the former then the upload bot will refuse it because it thinks you are uploading other peoples work. Since the config.txt file contains all the dependencies used this is sufficient to tell anybody who downloads your route what dependencies are needed. CM will report any that are not locally stored and point the downloader to the dls for those on the dls, if they are not on the dls they will show as unknown (you will need to tell people where to go for these if you cannot upload them or get the creator to put them on the dls).

This might also be the problem with your sessions being refused if you are including all the dependencies in your cdp.

Edit - Following what Nickel said above I went back and redownloaded your route ( I downloaded it when it first became available but because no dependencies were listed I deleted it thinking it would not work) and after saving a new version in Surveyor I was only missing seventeen assets all of which were on the dls.

I would like to add my thanks to you for updating the route and putting it on the dls and I would also ask you to upload your sessions again leaving out the dependencies if that is what has caused the problems you were having.

Hi All
Thanks for the comments.
I loaded the Classic Route into T12 form T6 and then modified it so it would run on T12 with RBR Activities.
Unfortunately, with the death of RBR The compiler "Athena" will no longer work.
So that was forgotten and rather that waste the layout I asked permission from jenolan, the owner, to put it up on the DLS.
It took me days to work out how the upload worked and eventually I managed to upload it.
Then it was knocked back because there were 3 dependecies included, 2 were "Builtin" and 1 was on the DLS. There was nothing that belonged to anyone else or it would have been refused also.
I found this out when i tried to upload an activity at a later date.
I removed these 3 items and it then loaded up ok.
I understood that everything else was uploaded.
Perhaps I am wrong as I don't know much about uploading to the DLS as I have made a practice of keeping as far away from Auran as possible.as I have found that most of the downloads are a PITA.
It appears that I may have added to it.

Well I have had a look at the config file and there are789 kuid items on it.
As I already have them all I found and deleted some of them.
Then I right clicked on the layout and left clicked on download in the window that opened.
it took a while for the CMP to search but eventually they were all downloaded.
So far no one has mentioned the loco that i accidentally left on the track between Columbia and Freidman during testing.
Just delete it when you are using that area

The UP SD40-2 yeppers i found it lol, Thanks for throwing this out there for us to use Norm and a big thanks to Larry for allowing this to be released. Do you plan on updating the Route any further like in the way of Textures/Content Etc. I use to really love driving this Route and its a real shame about the RBR Closing. Thanks again.
Mick.

Hi Mick
No, at present I don't have any ambition along those lines.
The last i heard was that Zec was doing a whole new layout to take its pace.
It was around a year away, I think, when RBR folded.
From the info I have, it was to be spectacular, like most of his other works.
Don't know if he is going to finish it or not now.
Norm

Thanks Norm i heard that about RBR ages ago too mate but wont hold my breath, Have you had a look at Username ( Axe1970 ) Oxford to Queens Route he is updating it too TS12 and i'm currently reworking it with my own ideas, But knowing my luck next week he will release his newer version lol the bloke works to quick.
Cheers Mick.:)

Hi Mick
Tha biggest problem with RBR stuff is that jenolan the owner still has the copyright to all the RBR stuff.
I and anyone else that wishes to update anything requires his permission before anything is altered.

Yeah i know Norm seems to be a hassle with a lot of great Aussie stuff which is a shame, Which is why i'm trying my hardest to break Axe's Oxford To Queens Route he has no problem with folks updating it although i will send him a copy before anything else is done to it after that. But yeah the RBR was a magical Route back in its day.

Is there any further news on this--especially the sessions jenolan's content? Did any of that make the DLS, or is this another fiddle with it three hours when only 20 minutes are available. A guys got to work and feed the family!

See, I just happened into the VirtualRailroading ezine issue which featured this route, surveying what there was Trainz Beginers page (links in the issue -- "Let's Get That Waterfall Flowing" article) as I'm planning on showcasing many such web tutorials up front and obvious on the beginner tutorials Yz-Tz is doing and Als been kind enough to offer me ownership when he passes. (No, no danger--he's doing fine! Just getting older and needing a good new computer.)...

I had thought/tried to grab it last spring when I finally started the downloading learning curve as a follow up from three years back -- but jenolan/Jess's site was just giving out a potpourri of humor, etc., instead.

Then thinking on it more, I was relieved because they drive upside down there in "down under", don't chya know. Someone, maybe Pencil42 or Paul Cas had the crass observation they say the same about us up here in Boston, Who'd a thunk it?

This is like trying to read a foreign language.
I take it that you have taken a look at Jenolans site and only found jokes etc.
We must keep in mind that this is a private site and what Larry (Jenolan ) wants to put on it is his own business. I personally find some of them quite amusing.
However, he has granted me a page for my T4 and T6 downloads. These are my own efforts to keep RBR T4 and T6 alive. Jenolan refuses to have anything to do with it.
If you were an original member of RBR and had the RBR Classic and Dual layouts then all is well . My scenarios will run on them OK.
If you don't have the T4 and T6 layout there is a Compendium available on Jenolans site that is still available for $12.50 and if you don't recognize a bargain when you see one ...well.
There are 2 layouts plus all the scenarios that have been written up until the disk was put out and the later ones LOC25 to LOC36 are available FREE .
Just go to the site and click on RBR ACTIVITIES and there you go.
BTW Larry advised me that what profit, if any, is made from the Compendium disk, it will be donated to KIVA.
If you don't know what KIVA is then all the details are on the site also.
