'Railway Simulator powered by Trainz 12'?

Learning... slowly!
I was in an entertainment shop yesterday and noticed a 2-case bundle for PC entitled 'Railway Simulator- Powered by Trainz 12!'
What exactly is it? I was trying to work out if it was a kind of 'Trainz for beginners' but surely the tutorials on the full game cater for that?

Railway Simulator powered by Trainz 12 is a regional version of TS12, which I believe is mainly sold in the UK. The only difference is the packaging and a slightly different starting build version.

It's the normal full retail TS12 in UK packaging, I got one as a backup for my digital copy seeing it was very cheap. Apart from a slightly different installer, It's exactly the same.

Hi again!
I have another question but didn't want to start a new thread as I seem to have started a few recently. I bought Trainz for PC today :D

Currently my PC is not hooked up to the internet, and it'll be some time before I'm able to change this. If I purchased and downloaded a payware pack using my mac, and then saved the downloaded files to memory stick, would I be able to install the payware onto my PC from that memory stick? Assuming the stick was formatted to work with PC and Mac..
It'd save me a great deal of time and some money that could be spent on more payware, if so :)

Thanks.

If it's N3V payware, then no if you've recently bought TS12 and the build is 57720 or higher. SP1 requires an internet connection in order to download the payware content.

It depends on what payware and the version of TS12 you are running. Beginning with SP1 (version 577xx and later), N3V has implemented a new DLC and DRM system. If the payware is official N3V DLC, then it can only be downloaded in-game. Also, you need to maintain an internet connection just to use it as it periodically checks to see if you're an authorized user.

If you have an earlier version of TS12, or use most other payware like JRs locos, then you should be fine.

It's build 47772, I think- pre SP1.
The payware in mind is the Auran Duchess Pack and the S&C stuff. Some of Gary Price's Staniers will come later :)

You will be OK as long as you do not install SP1 (that's anything above 49922). Anything above 49922 will mean that you will lose access to your Duchess pack and your Settle and Carlisle pack.

Sorry for butting in Alex! I've seen a couple of posts here and there that made me think you can buy TS12 updated to SP1, etc. Is this the case, or do you have to still do the updates yourself?

Cheers....Rick

If you bought from Simcentral recently, it will already have had SP1 and you cannot go back. Apparently, Alex fortunately got an older version.
