I bought the first version which has three routes, two Japanese and one US - actually just a short section of the Chicago "El". It is technically very competent and the Blu-Ray graphics are nice and sharp, but you can't get away from the fact it is still based on a video clip rather than integrated graphics engine. Unfortunately there's not much to the gameplay, a series of training exercises which on completion you unlock the full run. However unlike previous Onkagugan releases on the PS2 and PSP there's not much else to unlock and the run does not seem to vary. With only the three routes it gets repetitive quite quickly.
I believe the second PS3 Railfan is the Taiwan high speed rail line so maybe a bit more to do than running suburban style but I'm still not a fan of video orientated sims.
