quick rebuild and ext rebuild prob

I am sure I am not the first with this problem, just cannot find an existing thread after hours of searching. So pardon me if this is a repeat prob. Just point me in right direction. 1. When I start TS12 some of my routes do not show up on routes menu. "Work around" go to content manager and run rebuild. consistently have 497 errors. Run it again - no errors. Now things are goodand I can launch trainz from the content maager. All of my routes and sessions are now there as long as I don't exit Trainz. I can edit routes, add sessions, play to my hearts content. "Just don't exit Trainz"... As soon as I exit trainz everything resets. I start Trainz again and the same routes and sessions do not show up. So I repeat the process. 1. Start the content manager. 2. Run Quick Rebuild. 3. Same 497 errors on the same items. 4. once again all is well can start trainz from there play to my hearts content just don't exit trainz. If I do everything resets, and I have to run quick rebuild again.. Ponit of interest I have 4 items that show up in the download screen (upper left) when I clear them they show up again after the next time I exit trainz. Have done all the typical stuff 1. Extended rebuild. 2. rebuild from command line. 3. wait for tadamen to stop before shutting down PC. Etc. I remember from years ago some one mentioning a file to delete that gets hung? A little advice?

If that's the case, I would look into what errors are actually being reported, and be aware that a database repair can cause assets to be faulty for no reason.

The errors are all. "Object" found in other location. When it completes all is fine. However after exit trainz and restart the Sam 497 objects then quick rebuild with "found in other location" or what ever the exact wordage is. Also (forgot to mention) I have about 200 plus updates to download. After choosing download all, everything downloads fine and completes. After shutdown and restart, guess what, yep true to current form, all 200plus items are there on the list again for update download. This is a complete reset of some kind of unknown data base file. Objects are not lost quick data base rebuild fixes all my woes. That is until shutdown and restart.

If that's the case, I would seriously check that you are running as administrator - bear in mind that using an administrator account is not the same as running as administrator.

Also, try running trainz through the launcher, not CMP, when they are faulty assets the launcher should auto run a QDR...

To run Trainz as administrator, go to your install in Explorer and R-click every *.exe file and click "Properties". On the "Compatibility" tab make sure the "Run as administrator" box is ticked. Be aware, some *.exe files are in the Trainz root folder, and a whole load of others (including Content Manager) are in the "bin" folder.

It seems Trainz isn't saving your settings between sessions, which does sound very much like you are not running as administrator. The Administrator account in Windows is a different, and pretty useless, thing entirely.

Ah Ha That fixed it. Upon checking out everything, I found that the only thing running in Admin mode was Trainz.exe. Setting all .EXE files to Admin fixed all my problems. Thanks to all who replied with advice and tips.
