A while back, when I switched over to my new computer, I began running in to a problem. Granted, I'd dealt with the annoying as heck "Missing Spline" asset before, but said spline usually wasn't long in staying, once I tracked down the right asset and whatnot. However, it's becoming a bit of a nuisance lately.
I had a point where, when transferring over my WIP routes, the track, and in some cases telephone poles/wires, telegraph lines, and/or grass splines would be replaced by this same spline (523:1124, the missing spline asset). at first it wasn't much of a problem for me; I knew that, with my last computer dying so abruptly on me, there was no POSSIBLE way I had every 3rd party, non-DLS asset cataloged, so some hunting was in store for me. however, even when I'd tracked down the missing assets, the bloody thing STILL wouldn't go away!
OK, I said to myself, there's more than one way to figure this out. I distinctly remember this first rearing it's head on "SeaView Version 1" a fictional, personal-route only WIP I'd been tinkering with on and off for about a year and a half. When I opened up the "view dependencies" tab in CM3.3, I found, to my horror, that the Missing Spline asset was now listed as a dependency, as if it was now the track! What's worse, since the asset is set to "0" in it's config file, I can't click on it and do my usual "replace asset" hat trick in surveyor, plus I can't reset the bloody thing in CM3.3! add to that the usual headache of any route whose config file you've messed with automatically reverts to its original form upon opening surveyor, and you've got the making of a real pain in the tender trucks...
the reason I posting about this is that, as of today, I just downloaded a route that, from what I can gather, had the missing spline asset defaulted from the get-go: one of my old theories was that, upon opening a route in surveyor to see what was still needed as far as missing dependencies go (a bad habit of mine I learned WAY back when I didn't have an FCT, and would open a route repeatedly to see how much detail I could get away with NOT downloading), it re-set the config file so that it referenced the missing spline asset (KUID:523:1124) by default. however, upon opening this route, I saw that the track was missing, along with what appeared to be some trackside grass/field splines. exiting out into CM3.3 without saving, I found that the 523:1124 asset was referenced in the config file, again!
I'm out of options here; the above route, like many of my personal ones, is NOT missing the track splines as far as the dependency list (and myself) can tell. I can replace the spline sections one by one, but frankly, that gets a bit disheartening after a while, not to mention tedious: with only so much time to play trainz anymore, I'd prefer to spend it actually constructing something new, and running trains, not repairing buggered routes!
my question is this; is there any way for me to either A) make KUID:523:1124 visible in a pick list, so I can just use the replace assets tool in surveyor to slot the proper track in, or B) make CM3.3 recognize that the proper track is installed, and get the route to work? I'm sorry if this is a bit disjointed and vague, and I can provide as much extra detail as anyone needs. any help will be greatly appreciated; thank you in advance.
