Questions from a curious enthusiast.

Hey Nefer, the choice between 2006 and 2009 for me was pretty clear. Was not ready to pump out the $39.95US for it, particularly after hearing from someone how buggy it was.

Ran across 2006 at Target for $9.95US and sprung for it. As would be the case, last week noticed the Trainz Collection (Trainz Classic, 2004, 2006, the Paint Shed and Trainz Routes 1-4) for $9.95US at Best Buy. No room on my computer for all that, but still may go grab it next time I drive by.

Bottom line here is, you want to spend your money JUST on 2009, or spend a lot less to figure out if Trainz is for you? Your call. I spent the difference signing up for a FCT at the Download Station - - - the ONLY way to go to grab content for making routes or personal "improvments" to existing ones.

OK but at the end of the day the only way to get improvements is to let Auran make some money, they came very close to bankruptcy recently, and don't forget Microsoft is no longer interested in MSTS there isn't enough money in it for them. That $10 you spent retail might provide $3 or $4 maybe to Auran, buying TRS2009 directly supports Auran and gives them more cash to sort bugs etc out. The performance in TRS2009 native mode is much better than TRS2006 I think its probably cheaper to spend $29.99 USD on software than a couple of thousand on upgrading your computer.

I agree with you John. I do anything I can to support Auran and keep them in the Trainz business. If Auran goes bust or at the very least drops Trainz, then I would guess that we'd lose this great forum and the DLS. That would be a sad day indeed.

TC3 Signalling

Thanks, Paul

What I wasn't doing was to use Targets. Otherwise, as far as I can see, my signalling was the same. Even so, now I know that TRS2004 and TC3 are very different in this respect, I would like to know more. I have the Trainz TC3 Signalling Tutorial, but do you know if there is any more such info? I am looking on the various sites, but I haven't found anything yet.

Cheers

Alan
