Question regarding switchstand targets

It has always been my understanding that the red target is displayed when the points are aligned for the diverging route.

Is my understanding correct, or are there situations where the red is displayed for the thru route?

Thanks.

Most switch stands are LH and RH, Unless there is an obstruction interfering with the placement, use the rotate object and the target will be aligned for the main route.

Thanks for the response. I've been doing what you suggest to get the targets aligned. I just wanted to make sure that the way I was aligning them (red for diverging) was correct. If there are cases where it should be red for the thru route, I'd probably have a lot of junctions that would need to be changed.

The target could be red for the straight route where the principal track took the diverging path and the siding was off the straight path. Unlikely on the main line, but not impossible in yards.....
