I have a question on Norfolksouthern37 bogies, the way I read the files, you can change them as long as you just upload to the DLS, is that correct? Want to make sure thanks.

It might be pretty nice to ask his permission first, as it is still his property ... hmm ?

Instead of interpreting an assets license, and assuming it is OK to reskin, and assume that it is now yours, to do with what you wish

There sure is an epidemic of reskin artists, wanting to re-upload (OPS) other peoples stuff mesh's, repainted with their own new textures, to the DLS

I have sent him a PM, reason that I ask here in the forum as I was not sure if I could or not as per his lisc. as others might know for sure.

I am not sure if it is me or not but your above post seamed a little off.

The Forum members are not the decision makers ... If the creator of the asset does not personally respond to you via PM, one can consider the re-upload issue dead in the water, no matter what the license says, one can not take ownership of another creators work, and automatically assume that it is A-OK to automatically redistribute his work, and automatically re-upload it to the DLS

If it was the case of merely interpreting a license ... We would have a DLS chock full of "copyist" reskins

I remember one guy who "assumed" it was A-OK to change the license, reskin, re-upload, everyone else's freeware, and payware, mesh's to the DLS

Another guy wrote: "I found a pretty neat route, and thought I'd share it with others" ... and he started passing my route around as a CDP, obliterating my config file license

Even if a license says that "it is ok to do so what ever you wish" ... It is nice to contact the creator first, and get his permission, instead of asking Forum members if it is OK

What would you do if the creator never did not respond back to you ?
Would you then go right ahead, and automatically "assume" that it was OK to re-upload your reskin, of his hard work, to the DLS ?

Very true Cascade. I PM'd a contributor recently asking if I could change a config entry on asset to display "period" passengers, which would be uploaded on my KUID. Never got a reply. Maybe the author is busy or doesn't want his work changing. However I accepted and respect for whatever reason that is the situation, I cannot make publicly distributable changes. Moved on to a different solution - build the project as a heritage railway rather than putting it in a Victorian setting.
