Question: Locomotive Smoke

I've noticed that locomotive smoke is turned off in tunnels. Is this a built-in feature of tunnels or is there a way to apply this to structures (roundhouses, covered platforms, etc.)? The sight of three or four locos sitting in the roundhouse with black smoke pouring through the roof spoils the scene, at least for me.

Thanks.

Add 'istunnel 1' to the config of the track you use in your roundhouse. I don't know how far back this goes - at least TC3 I believe.

The information in this thread and the threads on m.bumptex etc really need to be carried over to the Wiki. There are many snippets of information much like this that are on the forum but not easy to find. I think we will have to bite the bullet and do something about it.

Peter,

You're correct - this tag isn't (wasn't) even listed in the list of config.txt entries. It's there now, but should also be mentioned in some sort of article about making tunnels or enginehouses or track or something. The track section should probably list the common config entries, with some mention of how to use them. What do you think?

Ricke82, I made a section of TS2009 track (124060:38067:1) with this tag set for this exact purpose. I used it on a little enginehouse I made, but it should work for anything. You are welcome to give it a try, and if it works, set about modifying / creating some matching track for your application.

I want to thank both of you for your responses.

I'm fairly new to trains and I wasn't even aware there was a Wiki. It looks like most of information that I've been searching for on the internet and sifting though the forums for is out there. I'm also grateful for the kuid. It sounds like just what I was looking for.
