Question about the Flying Scotsman

Just a quick question Zec, When did the LNER Flying Scotsman go into service? And is Gordon from Thomas really a LNER Flying Scotsman?

Google might know. Zec is a moderator, he has better things to do than answer silly questions. A quick google search would've told you all you wanted to know

And is Gordon from Thomas really a LNER Flying Scotsman?

Have a a look here: http://www.sodor-island.net/railwayprofiles.html Despite being a fansite, I consider it more true to being "official". For the short answer, Gordon was a prototype "A0" for the Gresley Pacifics, and bought by the NWR. He has since been rebuilt at least a few times, and can now be considered an A3. Flying Scotsman went to Sodor for a short while to visit, and he was built ->originally<- as an A3. Spencer, on the other hand, is a further model of Gresley, but an A4, streamlined (steamlined?) and brother to Mallard.

Technically, 4472 (Flying Scotsman) was originally built as an A1, then rebuilt as an A3 after the trials alongside GWR Castle Class 4079 (Pendennis Castle; which eventually operated alongside 4472 in Australia in 1988...).

I agree with Zec above, The Flying Scotsman was on one of the Thomas the tank engine shows, Gordon wanted to know why the engine had two tenders, and thought the more tenders you have, the more important you were.

Here is the show... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAJLzZ6wvt8

You might notice a different voice than usual, depending where you live.

Hope this helps

I remember the episode, and just was also wondering what happen to the model. Some people said the model broke, but other's say lack of money for the model.

Only the tenders were shown in the episode because they did not have enough money or time to build the locomotive itself.

That's what i thought was true, as i remembered i saw or heard somewhere that it was because of money, bu i forgot that was the case.

I never knew they actually did that episode! (if they wanted to, they could have just repainted Gordon with a different face plate and never show the two together) Amazing find! With George Carlin too!
