To my absolute amazement TRS2004 does not run any better or worse with the latest and greatest Geforce GTX 680 FTW 4Gb than Quatro FX4800 1.5 Gb. I would have expected a major improvement. I think the only difference is my electric bill is going up and my heating bill is going down.

My guess is TRS2004 cannot fully utilize either card. Does anyone know why this is?

Too old? Doesn't utilise the newer hardware functions such as shaders or other such stuff that didn't exist?

TS2009 was the first version that really pushed anything down to the GPU, TRS2004 does everything on a single core whereas the later versions such an TS12 spread themsleves out more on the GPU and any cores that are lying around.

Thanks John for the response. I wish there was some way to test how many cores GPU utilizes like CPU. Is there some utlilty that does that?

The Quadro series of video cards are made different then their consumer-grade counterparts. They may share the same components as the GTX equivalent but they are quite a different animal. Their pipelines and bus system is set up for CAD/CAM software which draws simple primitives and other high resolution graphics used in animation and design work. The BIOS is different and there are other internal differences as well.
