PRR Horseshoe Curve

Hi, I have Trainz Railwayz-Train Simulator 2006- Full Version. It has TC-Harlem-Metropolis...and I went into the "trainsoptions.txt" file and changed the default: "disablerailjointsound", to "enablerailjointsound". Sounds awsome!
Now: In Trainz 2006 I have merged two Horseshoe Curve DEM's into one big route from Altoona to Johnstown, RJ Corman line, Muleshoe Curve, and am adding additional boards on for the hand crafted WopsyRR. Rockville-Enola, and Conway-Pittsburgh will also be hand crafted and merged with the Horseshoe Curve route at a later date.:udrool: :mop:

Now...Horseshoe Curve, which is my merge of DCFox & Fishlipsatwork DEM's together...once I complete it, and wish to put it on DLS for everyone...what is the process for uploading, saving, committing, and archiving for DLS users worldwide...and should I give credits to all the persons assets I used, whether they are built or custom ? Has anyone else ever done a Horseshoe Curve project ?

I am laying MP-Finescale US Quad Line, (not sure what is the difference between 4m, and 8m), and smoothing and applying @ 1.8% gradients, and transition curves from Slope towards Tunnelhill. Once I get that, I delete one section at a time and replace it with (what do you reccomend) some type of track. I am concerned in Yards if using high poly track, as future downloaders may experience framerate problems. Please research this for me !

For track: "132 lb US Wood MTBA MRT" is my first choice (high poly). "Std Low/High" is my second choice (high poly). "Georges" tracks are my third choice (high poly). "US Mainline" & "Old Dark" are also great, and are (not as high poly). For a 40 mile, four track mainline, which track would cause second hand users (downloaders) less problems with framerate ? Also using non-built in track, could this cause a route to fail if the person that built the track was no longer providing it, way far into the future ? And in 8, one mile long, 10 track yards, what track would be best, considering framerate ? I want users to be able to use my route with low end PC's, and not to have missing (lost content) track-wise years to come.

Those are the lengths in meters of the track spline segment before it repeats. An 8m track will have one half the "polys" of a 4m track when both are laid over the same distance because the 4m track will repeat twice as much. For tight curves use 2m track, for more gentle curves 4m or 8m and for straights use 16m (if the creator provides all of these).

The 132lb track and George's track are I believe one and the same as I made the first and my name is George. If you want your route to be used by people with low end computers then you should probably not use my track as it really is a high poly track...all those little spike heads doncha know.

I tried making it once i got from Altoona to Tunnel hill...It got lost. Is horseshoe curve open year round..do they leave gates open all the time again?

My route got deleted too...now I'm making a super PRR route, by merging the 2 DEM's on DLS. The Curve closes at dusk, or 5 or 6 PM @. Parking across the road is a way of not getting locked in, because they lock up the parking lot up at night. But it is illegal parking, and the local cops could enforce no parking, and trespassing after hours, but I am unsure if they care much ? Often there are people up there after dark, but going up top the curve at night is illegal, unless you all ride bicycles in, and keep the ruckus to a super low QT ! I haven't been there for 2 years, so I'm unsure how strict the cops, Natn Park Serv, and RR are ! Alot of access roads that were once cool, are now no trespassing. You can get arrested very easily, railfanning on RR, and private property in and around Altoona-Johnstown. When a special train is bound for the Curve, RR Police are there in force, and will eject, or arrest trespassers, for railfaning at all the "once" cool photo locations ! RR cops are always at the Interlockings ! No trespassing ! If you arrive at the Curve before sunrise, and stay beyond closing you will have had enough of the Curve for one day ! I'm unsure but possibly 15 freights, and 4 passengers per day, mostly at night. Bring a good book, as lulls in traffic can last for several hours. But occasionally at the Station walk bridge, one can see 8 trains in 45 min when traffic is snarled up. Camping is about 25 miles, at Blue Knob, and Prince Galitzin SP. Several cheap hotels are in the area from WYE to S Altoona. You can eat out 3 times a day, 365 days and never eat in the same resturaunt. When at Waffle King order "The Ultimate Derailed Mess". They once had a "self kicking machine", a coin operated rotary wagon wheel, with 8 various boots and shoes that revolved. The Mallo Cup factory "seconds" store is 1 block from Alto Tower. Can't wait to go up ther again myself !

I have researched alot of high poly tracks, and they are great ! But I am concerned about framerate, if someone should download and go to use my Horseshoe Curve route. It will have Several Large 10 track yards, and low poly tracks would be better there. With @1000 switch's, complex trackwork, and 40 miles of quad mainline, I have come to a conclusion that a lower poly track would be best for the overall route. I have chosen "US Mainline" & "US Mainline Dark", hoping this is a lower poly track ? Any suggestions for track ?

Turns out Altoona had over 17 freight yards, all massively complex. Still debating on using Auran built in track like "MP-Wood", or "US Mainline Old/Dark". This route is going to to be a real challenge.
