Protolars and AI

Targ (Chris)
Guys I'm new to Trans as it is let alone Protolars..

I had a problem to solve and someone came up with the answer that protolars would do the job.

So I made a test route of a circle a protolars and a train set the containers up using the guide I was linked to ...

and then drove the train over the protlars stopped and bing bammm it worked the container wagons started filling I then set it up so it would fill 20' and 40' boxes... test again yep all goood

so pout this into my route and set it up the same....

made a train in the portal.. told it what to do... and yep it does everything ...

barrrr

load or unload...

so back to the test route...

test again all good...

so my son says hey why not try the portal train in the test route... OK lets do that after what seemed like hours I have come to conclusion that protolars does not work with AI trains as it does with player controlled trains...

With portoLars you have to uncouple the engine(s) from the train when AI is driving.
Have AI drive to the PL IND uncouple from XXXX car drive to a Track mark waite 1 minute then couple to the car he uncoupled from the cars should be loaded or unloaded by the time he get back.

One thing ive noticed is with AI trains after it comes to the industry you cannot give the AI any other commands what so ever., example drive to:PL#### ..... you can manually uncouple it or let it sit til loaded then reassume any other commands.......

In AI you need to give it the STOP command once it reaches its destination other wise the program is waiting for the next command and will do nothing, including loading the wagons. You do NOT have to uncouple the engine.

RE: Stop

There are a variety of STOP commands - stop -- train, loco stop first wagon, etc. Which STOP command fr AI loading is being referred to?

You know that locomotives don't waite for cars to be loaded or unloaded they drop them off and pick them up when the company call them (RR) that the company is done with it.
So uncoupling is what need to be done while he drops off or pick up a another car(s).(prototype)
Trains can't have a command while setting on a pritolars IND. At lest they won't do it for me.

I guess I should of been a little more specific. I usually drop off the cars and have a switcher bring them into the industry and load them. He stays attached and then brings them back out to a siding. The command after the stop is a wait command. It takes 1 minute minimum for the industry to start loading. Then it depends on your settings as to wither it loads 1 car at a time or all of them at once. If they are box cars I do all at once. If the are hoppers or flats I do one at a time. This can take some time so you need to time it then set the wait command for the proper time. Once you have that done you are off and running again.

Why would a RR Co. have a driver set for two days and wait for a car(s) to be unloaded?? lol lol just kidding.
I have never got a car to unload while a loco was attched to the car. So mabe i got a bug? If so it don't matter i always leave the car(s).
I see and understand what you say.
