Products, Industries, and car types

Trainz Addict
Hi;
Is there a comprehensive table of products, industries, and cars that can carry the products?

It seems a daunting task to find the correct car for a specific industry, or the correct industry to receive a specific product.

Thanks

FW

That is because there is no script to show what a car can or is made to carry in driver. It would be very easy if you could click on any car, and a menu will show what it can carry... Then you can select the commodity at the provided commodities panel, and bingo! Problem solved. Can somebody do it?

Along with the table, it would be great to have a way to track cars so they can be put on the right trains and delivered to the proper destinations.

I could do it all with MS Access, but I don't like to keep other apps running while Trainz is running. It would take a lot of work to get all the rolling stock, industries, and products into the database; even the limited amount that I have, let alone everything on DLS.

For a complex simulation like Trainz, these features really need to be built-in.

It seems to me you could format a report in Access with the info you want, then either export it as html or print it to an xps file and pop it up in a window in Trainz--like some scenerios do when you click the Diver Information icon. I don't know how much work that would be, but it would get around having both apps open and having to switch back and forth between them.

Wouldn't that cause the entire database to appear in Trainz?
That would take some searching to find the car you are looking for.
I think it's going to have to be scripted to the car and industry.
I don't have much experience in scripting, but am trying to learn it:)

One way to get lists for commodities is =
Start CM and set the Search to:
Category - Commodity
Location - Local
Then right click the product you're interested in such as Aluminium Ingot,<kuid2:44988:80015:1> and select View Dependent Assets. No click on View in main list and select all and Copy items to Clipboard then paste to a text exitor or wherever. The Aluminium Ingot list is:
ProtoLARS IndustRail,<kuid2:69871:10002:3>
PL Electric Motors,<kuid2:124017:10042:1>
LARS IndustRail,<kuid2:69871:10001:3>
Mill Gondola, 52', Railgon,<kuid2:124017:5013:3>
So now I know where I can load/unload and what cars car it.

This method won't work for older Auran builtin assets since they aren't listed as commodities. For them set the Search to Author - #-3 and you'll get their list.

No. You would format a report just as if you were going to print it to a printer. It would include just the fields you included in the report, not the whole database.

Well another quick list of products is open a M.I.N. INDUSTRY up
will give ya a list of products.........

Or go to TPR and download all of LARS PROTO LARS INDUSTRIES
good way to get a good amount of commodities...............

Now matching up cars well best way is to take time out and reconfigure the load s on the cars.........

example APPLES gooing to go in a reefer not on a flatcar..........
CRUDE OIL in a tanker etc...........

There is a rule that in driver will give you a list of all the rolling stock that is in your game. It's Emit Train Now" <kuis2:117746:990:4> It list all the commodity that each car hauls. You can make up a train or just send some cars to a portal that you have selected when you add this to your route. Also handy when you are iportaling to someone making sure you both have the same rolling stock.

I am having problems with that rule, It causes errors in ts2009 SP2. If the screen doesn't go blank it send the same consist over and over again. Is there a similar rule like this?

That will work. Then, I could import that data into my database.

I've seen that rule, but didn't realize it was useful for anything except portals.

I'm starting to get a little away from surveyor, and into running trains, so hopefully I can learn something here.

Thanks

nuni7270 i have hear of other having this problem, compaired files with them they are the same. the person i compaired with we both have 2010 sp2 build 42203 yet he has the error problem and i don't. (WHY)IDK
Maby some one can tell why.

What I have done is to rename each car with a default commodity that was modified in CPM:
Tanker 20G Procor (Styrene)
In dive mode you can Ctrl RC on a piece rolling stock and the name of the car will pop-up plus what is designed to carry. Also there is a rule that allows you view the current train list; full, & name.

I'm working on a Google Doc program that i will share with anyone that will send me via PM there E-mail adress (your e-mail adress will be deleted once you recive the Doc.) Now in this DOC Row A will have the name of the car. Row B will have the default load of the car in alphabetical order. Row C will have the 2nd product the car will load. D & E will have the 3rd & 4th products. Row F will have where to get the car if you don't have it. Row G will have the kuid # of the car. Now let me know if you would like to add any cars to this list i can alloud you to make changes.
