Problems with TS2006

This is a post to a different forum, that I copied and pasted to this forum. Help please as this is getting really really annoying.

I have been trying to Run Auran Trainz Similuator 2006 on my computer. I installed the program and it ran fine once. The program comes actually as 3 programs, the game itself, the content manager, and the content creator plus.

The content manager is designed to manage the content which is either created in the game or is downloaded to the game. The content creator is designed to edit and create new content for the game.

Here is the problem that I am having.

When I first install the entire package, everything works fine with the game. When I close the game then open the program and access the content manager it works fine. When I close down the content manager or attempt to access the content creator (accessed through the content manager) I start having problems.

The problem I always have is the same. I will click on the TrainZ icon on the desktop, which opens the TrainZ Luancher (Launcher.exe).

The Launcher program (Launcher.exe) will almost immediately use 50% of the CPU, with memory usage of roughly 34000K. If I attempt to open the game, nothing happens. If I attempt to open the content manager, the basic screen opens, but with no content showing. It runs as ContentManager.exe in the task manager. The launcher remains running at 50% with roughly the same memory usage. The ContentManager.exe will show as a process but with 00% and roughly 30000K. If I end process in Launcher.exe, the ContentManager.exe will immediately jump to 50% CPU usage and still show the same memory usage. Nothing will happen with the actual performance of the game.

I don't know if this is a problem with the game itself or a processor problem, or a XP problem.

Here is the computer information

Dell Diminension DV051
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz
2.79GHz 1.99 GB of RAM
Physical Address Extention

System: Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

Welcome to trainz.
Have you installed SP1. ? ( what version you are using) bottom right when you open trainz.

Where would it say what version. When I open the launcher all it says is full version under the game name.

When I go into the program files using my computer, I find the following information.

Trainz-Properties

File version 1, 5, 0, 2761
Product Name Trainz version 2.5f (BUILD 2761)
Product Version 2.5f

When you click "start" on the launcher it should take you to a screen with the options for driver, surveyor & railyard....on the bottom righthand corner of that menu screen is where you'll find the version # for your specific installation.

This happened to me. The Content Manger Plus is going through your asset database, looking for deleted items. Click start and wait about an hour, it can take longer if you have large data base.

When I click start it doesn't do anything.

That (2761) is the unpatched version of 2006. You need to get SP1 to build 3092. Dont forget to follow the re install tips to the letter. Can be found in the 2006 FAQ's.

That's the good news. The bads news is that once I started re-installing the stuff I had downloaded and saved on the computer, I've found a TON of missing dependencies on all the stuff. I've spent most of today digging through the internet trying to find the info for way to may kuid's.

One problem I am having though is some items, for example BCR Cetnerbeam Flat 1 by cnr (kuid:95761:15101) shows missing dependencies, however when I try to find the missing ones, I get the following info. 0 broken, 0 broken dependencies, 0 unknown, 0 missing dependencies, 0 on download station. 22 total. It appears all 22 are present, although the item still shows on the missign dependencies screen. Could it be one of the dependencies is missing a dependency?

To find out, after you click on view dependencies, click on view in main list to see if any of them have problems.

That's the funny thing. When I look at the dependencies in the main list, they all look fine. None are listed as fualty of missing dependencies.

I just downloaded and commited the BCR Cetnerbeam and it doesn't show any problems. I tried placing it on the track in Survey and had no problems. It works fine.

are you looking at dependancies or dependant assets which will be the routes/sessions it's used on.
Have a look at Rail-Sim.co.uk. There's a tutorial on fixing faulty deps which you may find useful.

Thanks

I'll try that.

I have looked at both dependencies and dependent assets. Some show no errors or faulty dependencies in either.
