I have just tried to install Trainz onto my computer... the basic installation process worked fine and then I went about patching the game because of how buggy I remember it being when I first loaded it last year... the manual patching was a bit of a nightmare but I seemed to have it all working... until I installed service pack 3... On Auron's own website there seems to be a GAP in the patchs... my game is currently at Build 49933 and the next patch up is incompatible... the game will not run in it's current build either so I am desperate for some help with this please...

Can someone direct me to the next patch?

This has got to be the worst software I've ever had to deal with, seriously.. and it's not for me it's for my 10 year old Nephew...

Build 49933 is for SP3 (single player).

Build 49938 is for SP4 (multi player beta).

You are good to go as is.

You may have to reinstall to fix any problems from patching.

Not quite as bad as Wizards & Warriors, the original Elder Scrolls Arena, Railworks, or the Microsoft Train Simulator route editor for bugginess. Anyway there are actually two versions of TS2010, regular and extra buggy. They released a public beta test of multiplayer, once you added multiplayer it was build 46170 instead of 44088, and the newest patch is for the 46170 multiplayer. Which I wouldn't advise if you don't like bugs.

Therefore, if all you want is the regular version without all the multiplayer beta test problems, 49933 is as high as you currently can or want to go.

Thank you so much guys, so I'm already there then... phew! Why is it saying it is an expired trial version though?? I got this sealed, brand new from Amazon?

Caveat Emptor

Amazon is notorious for that kind of thing which is why people are advised to always buy directly from Auran. Any used copy cannot be resold, since the serial number for that copy can only be registered once. The fact that it's sealed don't mean anything, anyone can shrink wrap a used copy. Your only recourse if you can't get it working is to try to get a refund from Amazon.

God be with you.

Near the top of the page is a link "Serial Number".

Click it. Enter your trainz serial number and select trainz 2010.

Click submit then we will know if you can register your copy of the game.

Yeah, you might as well try it, if it rejects the serial number you could try the Helpdesk link after that, they would be able to tell you one way or the other if it's a legitimate copy. That "expired trial version" sounds ominous though, never heard that one before.

I've heard of it, and it indicates a severe problem with the serial number.

I strongly advise contacting Helpdesk, as they are the only ones who can deal with this.

It sounds like either a used, or possibly a unforseen illegitimate copy (which can happen sometimes with used copies, depending on the vendor - bear in mind that Amazon are acting as the trading post, any such issues need to be taken up with the seller unless Amazon is specifically stated as the seller)
