Hi
I have just created a new route in 2010 by adding boards to make a board 25x12. I have selected selected Displacement1 in surveyor and selected all the boards. I have then seleted 'fill' and some of the boards have changed around the edge of the whole area but he boards in the centre have remained at 0 height. What am I ding wrong?
:(

I,m not sure you can do such a big area in one go. Try doing sections. There is a good tutorial in the manual.

Hi Peter,

Are you the Peter White of Shenware Software?

I did a quick test on a 10 x 10 grid and it was showing quite a few flat spots which I'm going to assume are due to the low resolution of that bitmap image that the displacement 1 uses. I checked and that bitmap image is only 256 x 256. If each pixel displaces a grid point then 4 x 4 baseboards is about the largest before you begin to have each pixel effect more than one grid point and flat areas are seen. The more pixels of the same color in an area the more this effect will be visible.

You can clone the displacement map in CM and then open it for edit in explorer. You can re-size the image to be larger like 1024 x 1024 and use a blur filter on it a few times to smooth out the transitions. Edit the config.txt file in Notepad and change the name of the displacement map to something new so that you can find it in game. Then Commit the asset in CM.

Sorry, not the same Peter White, there's a lot of us about. I will try your method and get back to you later.
