Problems downloading Plant Factory trees from the DLS

Having upgraded Trainz Plus to build 131950, I started downloading some PF trees from the DLS. I was careful to include the library files associated with a given group of PF trees.

Some trees and grasses work just fine, but others show as faulty. The issue is always the same - missing dependencies - no config file. Listing dependencies for a particular tree confirms that there is no config file, just the thumbnail and the library file.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

I downloaded all the PF trees and shrubs that were recently (8 August) uploaded to the DLS. None of them have any errors.

Can you give a few examples (<kuids>) of these faulty trees?

Here is one example:

<kuid2:1011615:100125:1> Birch Tree PF 3
<kuid2:1011615:100109:3> Birch Tree Library PF
<kuid2:1011615:100122:1> Birch Tree PF 1
<kuid2:1011615:100123:1> Birch Tree PF 2
<kuid2:1011615:100126:1> Birch Tree PF 4
<kuid2:1011615:100127:1> Birch Tree PF 5
<kuid2:1011615:100128:1> Birch Tree PF 6

All are installed without any errors in my Trainz Plus and TRS22PE.

Listing dependencies for a particular tree confirms that there is no config file, just the thumbnail and the library file.
I opened up a few of those you listed. Each Birch Tree PF n asset has just 2 components - a config.txt file and a thumbnail.jpg file.

All the texture, mesh and LOD files are in the Birch Tree Library PF asset. None of these files are in the Tree PF assets. The config.txt file in the tree assets references the texture, mesh and LOD files in the library.

If your Tree PF assets are missing the config.txt file then I would recommend deleting those faulty assets and try downloading them again.

If you have still installed any older (obsolete) version of the library (<kuid2:1011615:100109:3> Birch Tree Library PF), delete or disable it.

I repeatedly tried to load the PF trees that were defective as everyone suggested. No luck - same result.

I always made sure that the defective PF trees were deleted before downloading again. What else to try?

I was desperate so I went to content manager, then developer/rebuild database, while holding down Ctrl. I think that is called "extended database repair."

And it worked. I still have some that are defective but the vast majority that failed before now have no errors and work fine.

I have those exact birch trees and the associated library and I do not see any of them as faulty. I wonder if your download got interrupted at any point, because if that was the case then corruption would cause such an issue. The rebuild won't fix anything that is faulty. I would physically remove the offending trees and try redownloading them (Open in Explorer from the content manager). Then delete delete the item from the CM list. Do a quick DBR and run prebuild command in the TrainzUtil box). Then start with the birch library first. Then check if that is faulty. If not grab one tree and verify if that is faulty. If not then download the rest and verify if they are faulty.

I've used this technique on other assets, and it has worked.

Before trying to redownload an asset, delete all files in the folder <TrainzDataFolder>\cache\internet, and restart Trainz. If you don't do it, Trainz might try to install the already downloaded, faulty .cdp file, instead of downloading it again.
