Problem with video card update download

Transportfan

...the sign man
My video card is acting up with the baseboard grids flickering in Trainz a few minutes after starting up. Usually the screen goes blank and the card "resets" and the flickering disappears for a few minutes and then starts again. I think I need the driver update.

The main problem is is that when I go the the ATI site to install the updated drivers (after selecting the right OS), I get this popup when I start to install it, and it doesn't make a difference if I choose the full suite or just the driver:

As far as the driver download is concerned that message is normal for any driver not supplied and tested by Microsoft, just click continue and install it.
Most Graphics manufacturers drivers are far better and more up to date than the stuff Microsoft certifies.
Regarding the flickering System Specs and version of Trainz and whether it is patched up to date or not would help.
Was it working properly before or has it always been like this?

Perhaps the problem is not the driver but rather overheating?

That may be. I did have my computer blown and the tech said that the video card fan was broken, probably because it was choked with dust. And the weather is warmer now.

I never installed any new service packs since getting Trz2006 because I was afraid of losing my custom content when I reinstalled it. But I'm getting a new laptop soon anyways so I'll leave that for now.

No. It's a new problem.
