Problem with track reversing its 'polarity'

I have been working on a mock-up of the Ashley Planes which used cable drawn trolleys to push loaded cars up inclines, the steepest of which is 14.5%. There were three planes with parallel tracks and on my mock-up the transition between them relies on gravity. At each transition level the pusher trolley waits on a spur until a cut of three cars is in position to be pushed uphill. As the trolleys are each at one end of the three main cables it requires that as one trolley goes uphill the other comes down.

After much fiddling and frustrations I reached a point where the timing of each trolley was correct and subject to a couple glitches everything worked, six trolleys alternating up and down hill in a 3.5 minute cycle.

Then Trainz hit back!! Picture two parallel tracks heading North-South. On the left hand track three trolleys wait in the top position. The action starts with cars being pushed up the lowest right hand incline, this triggers the related left hand trolley to return to the base of the incline. Not any more, it doesn't!

Without any obvious change in the driver commands all the trolleys on the left track go UP when they should go DOWN. Their direction arrows are correct, I have used the Direction reset command, and added 'travel via" commands, all to no avail. All the trackmarks and triggers are mirrored as are the commands.

The left hand track appears to have switched direction so that effectively all the driver commands for that track are reversed. Interestingly, when I rotated one of the left hand trolleys so that it faced downhill it travelled downhill in response to a command that told it to travel in reverse.

These are bi-directional tracks so I can't use direction trackmarks. I shouldn't need to, it did work and now it doesn't. I checked an earlier version and the left hand trolleys travelled correctly

Can anyone suggest a solution short of replacing the entire left hand trackage.

My grateful thanks in advance

Single track splines, not physically connected in any way. Right hand track follows the sequence correctly. The left hand track appears to follow commands in wrong direction. Problem appeared "out of the blue", no apparent cause.

I've found a couple of commands the I missed in my searching. 'Change Direction Command' and 'Change Train Direction' both of which seem to work but need to be reissued before each movement. Unlike the 'Reset' command these two appear to swap the actual direction of travel which is not what I would like but I can live with it.

I would still like to know why the track reversed itself.
