Problem with starting Trainz

I have a new problem with starting Trainz. Look at this picture:

Can someone please help me out? I'm using DirectX09 and have the latest version installed.

The quickest, easiest solution I've found is to do a Windows System Restore to the last time Trainz worked. On a typical XP machine used daily, you probably will have daily restore points, so it shouldn't "undo" much if anything besides whatever caused Trainz to stop working.

Check your video settings in options. You may find out that if you had Open GL set, it someone switched to Direct X. Set it back to Open GL and problem solved. This happened to me after the last Nividia driver update.

Can you please remind me how to do that? I'm asking because I don't know if I did one before, and if I did, I don't remember how.

Robert2d6: I always have to have Direct X.

Have you rebooted the PC? that's the first thing to do when something like that happens, happens occasionally with Nvidia drivers.

Yes, but it didn't work. By the way, how do I check which driver I have? I'mk asking because I don't think I have Nvidia, but want to double-check.

If Malc's advice doesn't work, go to Start->Help and Support Center->Performance and Maintenance->Using System Restore to Undo Changes->Run the System Restore Wizard and select Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time.

Doing system restore before trying the easier remedies is not the best thing in my opinion, it's like trying to fix a squeak with a sledge hammer. . When you start Trainz, go to Options/Display settings, and set your resolution and check Direct X or open GL. See which works.
