Problem with Portals and Termini

Hey I am curently building an inner city route with a high traffic volume.

At one end I have a portal emiting trains at 5 min intervals, at the other end I have a 12 platform terminus with a four track (two up two down) lead in.

however ive been having problems with trains ariving at the terminus too close to each other and jaming things up, the portal has 3 types of consist to emit all ending in diferent platforms however if two of the same train are emited concecutivly then the second train will arive efore the first leaves the terminus.

is there any way to set the order that trains are emited from portals? if not does any one have any ideas on how to get round the problem of the trains jaming up?

Use a Portal Manager. I recommend pguy'sQuickPortalManagerV3. You can program every portal on your route to emit trains on a specific schedule so you know exactly what train will be arriving at exactly what time. An alternative is to use pguy's "DriveToTrackmarkList" <kuid2:61392:7004:8>

Place trackmarks at each platform and use the naming convention
Platform (01), Platform (02) ...

When using the above command the trains will select a vacant platform from the list. You could have several groups of platforms such as
Platform A (1), Platform A (2) ... so that different types of train select different platform groups.

Personly I think 5 minute intervals is insuffient. Try 10 minute intervals.

cheers i will look into these options, and the five min intervals would be fine (infact i could go lower) but the only problem is the portals select randomly so where i have 12 platforms to locate trains if it sends out two of the same in the 5 min gap they get stuck, I want this route to be majorly busy so it feels like a terminus in a city centre area such as london.

however as ive said ill look int these options and hopefully i wont have to change anything i dont want to

Pierre Guy's (pguy) Portal Manager is excellent. It will allow complete control of what trains arrive and when.

For TRS2006, there is an earlier version called PortalTimeTable, you need an instance for each Portal, as I recall, but that apart it also works fine.
