Problem with 44088 update

Gary_Evans

Still plays with Trainz
After purchasing and installing a new computer and operating system (Windows 7), I installed my copy of TS2010. After installing I noticed that there was a more recent update fix for 2010 so I installed it moving my version of 2010 to 44088. Apparently a big mistake. Before this update 2010 seemed to work flawlessly. Now the sound is very erratic; sometimes the sound is almost inaudible and other times it works normally. Surveyor is now difficult to work with; it takes several seconds before an installed asset appears. The sessions I had created before the update worked fine but now I have to go through and make changes to get them to work properly. The problem is apparently not confined to my system since a few Trainzer who had downloaded some of my 2010 sessions have notified me that what worked before they updated their 2010 to 44088 now do not work. Do we need a fix for the fix?

44088 seems in general to be a very stable build. Did you do an EDR (Extended database Repair) after updating? If not you should have.

Which patch did you apply? You can update using the new 'one step' patch or the older one-build-at-a-time patches. If you did it the second way you should have done an EDR after every patch and I would throw in a reboot between each as well.

If many people are having issues with a single session I would be looking at the session for the glitch, not the build. Most likely culprits are anything scripted, then start checking anything used in the session which is flagged as faulty...

Launch TS2010, instead of clicking Start click Content. That opens Content Manager, so upper left of that window click File, then select Extended Database Repair from that menu.

I did an EDR, in fact I ran it twice. I used the one step patch. Issues occur in at least three sessions, which by the way, worked correctly before the patching. I guess I'm back to squre one so to speak.

Gary,

I noticed a big drop in performance going to this patch as well, particularly with Surveyor.

I agree with Andy. If this is happening only with a particular sessions, then perhaps there are some script errors with the content used.

Going to TS12, appears to have fixed this Surveyor "bug" in the software, though.
