Problem with 315 interior,<kuid2:51536:9531501:1>

It's a dependency for several of my 158 trains and my 315 (and other EMU) trains, but I am unable to fix the following errors:

Error: Texture 'bikerack.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh '315_interior.im'.
Error: Texture 'seatback.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh '315_interior.im'.
Warning: Progressive meshes are no longer supported by Trainz. Though these meshes may work in Trainz, it is recommended that you switch to a LOD mesh.

It's the errors that are more the problem.

Anyone had any luck fixing these, or have any workarounds?

Shane

EDIT: Forgot to add, I'm currently using TS2009 SP4.

Although I don't use these units, I downloaded this kuid and found fixes for both errors.

The seatback.texture problem;
Both the tga file and the texture.txt files are in the download so I used PEV's PM2IM to remove missing textures and this cleared up this problem.

The bikerack.texture is in the mesh but no tga or texture.txt files were included in the set. I therefore created a bikerack.tga file and a corresponding bikerack.texture.txt file and this solved the other error. Now no errors just warnings about the PM mesh files as usual.

I will have a look when I'm next in Content Manager - just out of interest, what should the bikerack.tga file look like?

Shane

I will try that - thankyou for the advice given.

I'm just dealing with the various issues with TS2009 SP4 at the moment (and my Trainz-owning friend came across the freeze on save issue)

Shane

EDIT: It has now commited without errors - thankyou for the fix details.

To add to what Scottish says I found the bikerack files in another 315 interior - kuid 343177:313999 and the tga is a 256x64 black rectangle for that asset.

Shane,

Get your friend to add his 'freeze on save' to your 2009 bugs thread. This will add to the list of experiences of problems and bring it to the top end of the forum list.

I will see what I can do - I may have to do it on his behalf, as he is not familliar with forums.

Shane

EDIT: I have done it on his behalf - the TS2009 SP4 bugs thread is now back at the top of the TS2009 forum (at the moment).

Have a look at the BR class 313 I updated with uky901y, kuid:343177:313001- we fixed everything so the entire asset would work in TRS2010 error free including the interior kuid:343177:313999.

zxr400 kindly sorted the doors for us as these could not be fixed with PEV's utilities.

In some cases it's actually the mesh having textures in unsupported slots that causes the missing texture error not the texture itself.

Which is crazy. If it's 256x64 and just black then it's a waste of space and can be replaced by a 1x1 tga.

It's an alphablank, 65kbytes of load.

I've found that sometimes using a new alphablank doesn't work which is why I use the same alphablank in every reskin, that one dates back to the large logo 37/4 reskin of 2006, the first which successfully stopped all of the EWS logos showing through.

Another instance is the reskin of obi1knobby's diesel class 150 into an electric class 318, the underframe is made transparent using a large alphatexture- half the size of the graphic and the underframe re-appears.

One of the good things about this forum is when great content content creators such as tmz06003 and paulhobbs pass on a few of the gems of their knowledge to us amateurs as in their posts on this thread. I have admired the skills of these two creators whose content is well represented in my assets database.

Obviously ordinary users like me have to find workarounds to be able to use many assets which otherwise will not commit. They will probably not be correct (as my guess on error correction in this thread) but sometimes they allow us to use an asset which otherwise would not be useable.

I have downloaded BR class 313 and look forward to trying it in 2009SP4 native.

Thanks

We all start off the same, I remember the first time I loaded Trainz 1.3; I tried to drive the HST on the built in route and derailed every time!! Then I discovered how to rotate the screen and found a point to switch...and it all just escalates from there.

I think once I realised that it's possible to build any prototypical route that the bug really bit- and of course when I discovered Paul's excellent Barclay shunters I just had to have TRS2004:) .

From what tmz06003 says there is more to the bikerack.tga than just a black rectangle that I saw but at least Shane knows where to find the texture and tga files he needs for his 315.

I second Scottish's comments on both your great creations.

I agree - that's what I (ike about these forums - the community helping spirit (I'v e seen on other forums where that is not the case.

Thankyou for all the advice given, hopefully it will help me (and others) who have similar problems (as some people would say, helping one person can help others in a similar situation) - and don't worry, I will still be helping other people where I can.

...well hopefully someone can help solve the DirectX 9 problem I'm still having despite having installed every version I've seen a link to on these forums:( - still no TRS2010 on my desktop at all (works on my other laptop but painfully slowly).

I've posted here http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?p=721538&highlight=directx9#post721538

followed the instructions and still no luck. I've even tried downloading each of the links separately then checking it and the DirectX error message still appears, I've even downloaded the new updated that you usefully provided a link to- I think I'm jinxed as far as TRS2010 goes on this pc!!

Maybe part of the problem with this one is that so many different DirectX links have been posted all over this forum, a pity your thread wasn't made a sticky earlier.

I think I did respond to that post (as I'm usually one to try and answer questions regarding DirectX 9)

First thing I need to check is your system specs.

Secondly, can I verify whether you followed all the instructions given (and if using the redist method, did you remember to run the dxsetup file in the folder you extracted the files to)

Shane

Cheers, only found your reply today as I'd lost track of that post!

System specs here:

Windows Vista (unfortunately) SP2 installed
Intel Pentium (R) Dual CPU E2180 2GHz
2GB RAM
32bit operating system
287mb graphics memory

GMA driver info states DirectX 10, but as I understand v9 and 10 can co-exist on a pc and it will report the latest version installed. The laptop I have TRS2010 running on is an even lower spec than the one stated above (as I'm more involved with content creation I mainly run to check progress of the content I'm building). TRS2004 was previously installed on this same pc and ran well.

As you are running DirectX 10, I will get you to use the Redist method, as the websetup one will report 'newer version installed' - you can find the instructions on the Updating DirectX 9.0C - How to do it thread (post 1) - Redist version heading.

Shane

I've tried the process again with the same results, I'll describe exactly what I've done here:

-downloaded 95mb REDIST DirectX9 as per link,

-saved to documents

-created folder documents/directx

-double clicked directx_Jun2010_redist and saved extracted files to directx folder above

-found and ran ran file dxsetup.exe

-message DirectX installation is complete appeared

-restarted pc

-error message appears:

directxerror.jpg

-switched from Open GL to Direct X in options

-restarted Trainz2010

-crashes as before..

Thanks Shane for all the time you have spent helping others and myself with this, but if you manage to solve this for me you deserve a medal!!!
