Problem Reinstalling Trainz 2009

...user data not saved...

 Did you use the "Uninstall.exe" supplied with the game?

If you use that utility instead of Windows "Uninstall a Program," your user data is saved in a folder...reinstalling Trainz uses that folder to reinstall your settings, downloads, etc.

No, Backyard...unfortunately, I used the Windows uninstall. That's probably why the installation files disappeared too. I expected it would still be there and I could just reinstall. When it wasn't I figured I could just redownload it from Auran since I have a valid serial number. Fortunately, I did do backups of my assets. I may have lost some routes, but I'm not concerned since they were largely experimental. Now I want to apply what I learned to create my "real" layout. But I can't until I get the program back!

I think if this is a result of them changing the installation files (splitting them from one into three), they ought to give us some kind of compensation for our pain and suffering of withdrawls! Maybe some download station tickets!:p

I always use the window uninstaller when possible then use a reg cleaner. then I go back in the program files and make sure the file is gone. Ive tried a few different way of loading it with no hope. I just got to hold out for a salution to 2009 or just break down and get 2010.

Ahhh yes, everything is right in my world of trainz again. the download worked and everything is working perfectly. thank yall for your help and understanding :D

Yay! I'm downloading it now. It will take over seven hours, but as long as it works, it will be worth the wait! I'll post here if it did. Good luck rodeo3st!

It Works!

The download is completed and it works! Unfortunately, it came in as build 38411 - probably because I needed to update my DirectX driver. I'm patching my way back again...and treading with care since this is where I got messed up the last time!

But it would appear that the problems have been solved! My thanks to everyone who helped and for the moral support while the game was down! Ha!:D:clap::D:Y::D:clap::Y::)

So, if I uninstall and re-install TS2009, do I have to download and re-install every local content I had, or will that problem will take care of itself while installing? And about the update patches; If I delete them, will the assets work out okay? And one more thing; should I reinstall, would my user ID on the CMP revert to normal? Let me know for all question's. Thanks!

1) If you saved your locally installed (downloaded content), you can reimport it back in using CM.

2) You will need to install the patches if you created anything with the patched version.

3) Your user ID on the DLS remains. You will not lose any FCT status or anything on that end.

I hope I answered your questions.

Having posted on this board a couple of times and received multiple helpful replies, often within an hour of posting, has spoiled me! I posted this on the Trainz 2009 board yesterday and barely got any reads and no replies. I guess most people have moved on to 2012 :p

Since I would love to get back to playing with my trainz, I am going to commit the sin of cross-posting in the hopes that someone on this one can help me since it seems more active.

My computer was hit with a virus and I spent all last week reinstalling everything. I got around to re-downloading Trainz 2009 using the link on my "order history" page on the Auran website. I installed and then had a problem when I went to patch it up to current. I posted about that here and was advised that the download should have been current with no need to patch. I seem to have messed things up and had to uninstall and try again with a fresh installation. I re-downloaded after some problems with the Auran site (which eventually went down for maintenance). I successfully downloaded the three files yesterday and went to install.

I get as far as "User information" window. I enter the name I bought it under. I have no "organization" to enter, so I either leave it blank or enter "none." I copy and paste the serial number directly from the order history page (so no chance of mistyping the number). However, the "Next" button continues to be grayed out! I've tried various variations on the srial number (without dashes, for example) but it's always the same thing!

I saw on the Trainz 2009 forum some folks were reinstalling from both CD and digital downloads and the serial numbers not being recognized as valid, but they seem to get an error message to that effect when they click "next." I can't click it because it's grayed out!

I have a ticket in with Auran help, but I know it takes a while for people to get back on it, so I'm back on this forum in the hopes someone might have a suggestion or fix! It crossed my mind that there might be a maximum number of downloads for a given serial number, but I could find no warnings or notices to that effect. Plus, I would think I would get an error message instead of the button just being grayed out.

Many thanks for any information or suggestions!
Hi there, i'm having the same problem too. Ok so I recently got a new computer for my 13th birthday and I am reinstalling my games. I am reinstalling TS2009 and it asks for the organization. I just want to know how to like reinstall it without doing that. I'm pretty pissed with how technology is nowadays.
