Pre-Made Maps (No Track)?

So I've been wondering this for a long time, but, does anyone offer any pre-made maps for Trainz in which the terrain and textures are in place (and perhaps even roads and buildings), but tracks are not? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Farecoal

Probably the closest you will get to that are DEM terrain routes. Do a username search for fishlipsatwork and smooz and you will find enough terrains to keep you busy at least until TS2020 comes out.

Terrain and textures is easy, roads and buildings and trees is not. Clone a route in content manager, edit in explorer;

Edit config.txt in notepad, find "username" and change the name of the map.

config.txt
mapfile.bmk
mapfile.gnd
mapfile.lyr
mapfile.obs
mapfile.trc
mapfile.trk

Delete mapfile.trc and mapfile.trk and you get a route with no tracks. mapfile.obs contains all the objects, problem is it has signals and track markers in it as well;

so you're down to a choice of keeping the buildings and trees and having to manually delete all the orphaned track objects, or delete mapfile.obs and get just the basic template with the terrain texture and topography. Don't try this on the original, make a clone and try on that, if it goes sour you can always delete the clone and make another one.

Thanks bl4882

I always wished I could find premade terrain-only routes, since creating realistic mountainous terrain is time-consuming and hard for me to do realistically. Based on your posting to look for content by fishlipsatwork and smooz, I downloaded several terrain-only routes and added part of one to a route I am creating.

What is frustrating is that these do not show as routes in DLS (or any other separate category) so I could never have found these on my own. Thanks again.

So, I tried downloading fishlipsatwork's Surf map, but a little over half way during the download process, it froze. No error message was displayed whatsoever. What do you think the problem is?

Hello Schweitzerdude: You are welcome.

To Farecoal, I honestly don't know what the problem is, but yesterday was a Sunday and the DLS is notorious for being clogged up on weekend days. You might want to try on a weekday sometime.
