Possible NSW (Australia) City Rail Layout

Hey guys, first post on the forum, however I have been lurking for a few weeks checking out the awesome works of art!

Anywho, I am getting a new computer next Wednesday, my copy of Trainz 2010 is in the mail (which I actually stumbled upon (the game that is) due to boredom at work, and partly due to my father's own interest in model railways). I was wondering if there was any direction anyone could give me in regards to trying to find a City Rail modification for the Sydney area of NSW. Be it the new Millennium, older Tangaras or even those "lovely" old silver trains.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, though I thank you in advance :)

Hi Matt
AFAIK the following are the only electrified rolling stock for NSW:
B Sets (old red rattlers)
M Set
S Set (Silver)
Look up the DLS under username cjennin and ensure you have the UTC check box ticked.

Great, thanks for your reply. I did a quick search on the DLS this morning and couldn't find anything, and I now realise I was using fairly non-specific search words!

It would a great feat to undertake the modelling of the newest set, so I may try it in due course.

Hi there mate,

Welcome aboard.

I know some people have attempted to build the Cityrail network, but I don't think anything has been release yet. (I could be wrong) :)

For some great NSW rolling stock search for Username Davido, and Natvander.

Regards

Thanks guys, all suggestions I'll take a look at ASAP!

I wasn't going to reconstruct the entire network (because any of us who travel on it are well aware of how confusing and shocking the service sometimes is!), more to do bits and pieces of the Campbelltown line and the Campbelltown-Macarthur rail yards. Not entirely sure how intricate these will be to create, but I need my copy of Trainz first!

Also, has anyone got pictures of this rolling stock in use? If not, not problem

I've been following Redfern Workshopz for years, where "Wylie" has been working on producing some Tangara rollingstock. However, as far as I can tell, has not completed a released model as yet (last news item at time of posting was back in October 2009, so possibly the project has been shelved, dunno, be nice to be proved wrong).

Would be great to see a real-life location I've travelled come to virtual life in TRS with tangaras, "silver streaks" and "red rattlers" running around! Heck, maybe then could actually have the trains turn up on time!
:hehe:

It did get shelved for a while. Life happens sometimes. Ive been working on a few things for the last month or so, and making some progress, however, having gotten the 86 class to the point where it can be exported to Trainz, and having it appear the first few times (albeit a rough draft) it now doesnt want to show up at all, so Ive been trying to figure that out so I can move forward.

The Tangara is currently waiting for me to convert it to Max. Since TS2006 is no longer supported it doesnt make sense to keep slugging away at it in Gmax, but the problem mentioned above is taking up a bit of time to work out. I suspect the exporter isnt handling the materials properly, but figuring out exactly what it likes doesnt appear to be easy - esp since its not giving me any errors.

As for suggestions... all the good ones have been mentioned already.... cjennin, davido, natvander etc. Theres a few other bits and pieces around too, if you look hard enough.
