Portals

NorthWest Ohio Trainz2010
In trainz 2010 I have a set up, of two portals both supposed to produce trains.. but even after a large amount of time, nothing spawns. I was able to get portals to work in 2006, but now in 2010 I cannot. I assume I am missing something important, but simple. Nonetheless I cant figure it out.
Thank You

Nothing's changed. Set portal to emit @ 15 min intervals (or whatever), set portal to produce only or both if you need it to.
Set the consists and locos up with drivers and commands.
Make sure there's enough track to the first signal to take the longest consist.
Try using jointed rails emit train now rule, add it to the session rules and edit it to use your 2 portals. You can then spit consists out when you want and the portals will still emit at the set intervals.

Make sure you are configuring the portals in the session editor. If you do it in the route editor you will lose the information when you run a session. If you want to have the same setup for a number of sessions then create a basic session with all the portals, industries, stations, etc set and then use this session to place your trains and save as a new session.

I think also there are some Portals that worked fine in TRS2004/6 and Classics but stopped working in TS2009 and upwards.

If you're having no joy with the portals you used on your route, I suggest you try changing them for "HP Portals" and see if that works.

Daft as it may seem .. And I'm sure you may have tried - but in case not .... Try rotating the portal 180 degrees to be sure that the trains are being emitted in the correct direction.

When I first used portals I found it confusing which end was Portal Entry and which was Portal Exit - The logic seemed to be the reverse of what I had anticipated!

Good luck and let us know if you get the answer
