Portal Spawns

Yo,
I have a portal on my route with about 12 possible consists spawning from it. I know trains spawn randomly but I've found that some consists spawn really regularly whereas others have never been chosen to spawn. For example a 2 car airport express train spawns every other interval, but a 20 car sleeper has never spawned. One type of intercity train spawns really regularly whereas another doesn't. There's plenty of space on the tracks available for these trains to spawn in. It doesn't feel like trains are chosen to spawn randomly. Anyone able to provide knowledge on this?

Trains spawn randomly if you set them to. You can also specify the order you want them spawned in. The choice is yours, just use central portal control.

There is an approx 8.33% chance of any particular consist appearing with 12 consists in the list. The number of times a particular consist appears has no bearing on which consist will be spawned next. You would have to watch and keep count over hundreds or more likely thousands of spawnings to get a good idea of whether the spawning is really random or if there is a bias to certain numbers.

I had the same doubt some time ago and I actually took note of hundreds spawning on a route where I used four portals to generate random AI traffic.

If I remember correctly - the first and the last consists in the portal list were spawned much often than they should (approximately 2 times and 1.5 times the proper calculated chance, respectively). The other consists had an equal chance of being spawned.
