"Please Wait" ...Forever (Content Manager Malfunction)

I have been having a LOT of trouble with Content Manager lately. I have not knowingly made any changes to anything and it started out of the blue.

It starts with it stopping responding while doing basic stuff, like clicking on an asset and waiting for the details to come up. I let it sit for a good half hour once and it never came back, so I had to kill the process. Then I open it and it says "Please Wait" in the right side main menu and does nothing else. On the bottom edge, it says it is "applying filter." I can click around on the menus but it never stops "waiting." At least it says "please," I guess!

I did a Network Diagnostics and it passed and my internet is otherwise working. I also tried resetting the filters under settings. I even tried a database repair and gives me a blank "Please Wait" dialog box and goes to "Not Responding." If I kill the process again, it won't open at all until I reboot. When I go to open it, nothing opens, but I do see the rocess in Windows Task Manager, so something is happening but getting progressively hung up.

It's version 3.7, Build 58414. Other than this, I have no other clues.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Not a silly question - I appreciate the help. But that isn't the problem. This problem is with the Content Manager in the software, not the website Download Station. So I can't even access the assets I already have (including the payware) aside from in Surveyor and Driver. For example, I have some reskins I was working with and need to access the files. Thanks anyway!

Have you tried upgrading to the latest version (61388)?

Also you might want to turn on the 'Show Database Process Windows' under Options (on the Developer tab) ... so you have some additional visibility of what's happening.

Thanks jkfrench. You mean the latest version of Content Manager? How would I go about that?

Unfortunately for the moment, I can't reboot the computer because of a large file transfer to back-up going on this afternoon, but once I can (so CM should hopefully work again) I will try it. I should also add that Trainz is not starting at all now and I am not seeing it as a process in Windows Task Manager.

When I am able to reboot I will try your suggestions.

Thanks again!

CMP in 61388 is far more unstable than in 49922, as has been discussed on several occasions recently. I have just downgraded my TS12 install to 49922 as 61388 was generating more and more whiteouts or lock ups.

It starts with it stopping responding while doing basic stuff, like clicking on an asset and waiting for the details to come up..

I know that TS12 users are howling about CM problems at the moment, but that particular issue is more widespread. I have TS10 44088 and of late the DLS is almost un-browse-able. You spot an asset that looks like a contender, click on it, and it takes an age and a half for the asset to show as 'highlighted'. Between clicking on the asset and the green 'highlight' bar appearing the program is unresponsive, can't be closed and appears for all intents and purposes to be frozen. It isn't, but it's damn frustrating waiting two or three minutes (typically) for a simple process like selecting an asset to view. And I am NOT talking about the time it takes for the 'Asset Details' window to load, it is simply time taken to select the asset you want to view....

Have you thought about when working in surveyor, to disconnect the internet as no end of problems can be caused by Microsoft and other updates that come in, in the background. I remember doing this a few years ago when I was having problems and It seemed to be the cure,

The issues start with CM, which I need the internet for, and then seems to cascade into Trainz in general. If I am working with assets already downloaded, I could disconnect.

The back-ups are now completed, so I can reboot and try to update. I am concerned by the reports of issues with the updated versions, but what I have is problematic, so I am hoping it is not too much of a backwards step!

CM now works after a reboot and Trainz is updating the database, which I expected after killing the process. I will see if it works with an update and report back.

Thanks guys!
