Help Me! Whenever I start up my TRS 2006 game, it loads and runs very slowly. It is unusable this way. It take about 5 minutes to load and/or do something hat would usually take 1 second if it was normal. Please, is there any way to fix it???? Because I don't want to loose all of my work in Surveyor and all of the stuff I downloaded. PLEASE HELP ME! Thanks! :)

The only explination I could see for this is that your computer isn't powerful enough to run Trainz, or that your running something else while running Trainz, so...
1.Make sure your computer meets the requirments to run Trainz(look on the bottom of your trs2006 box.)
2.Make shure that you close all other programs(especialy CMP)before running Trainz.

Hope this helps,

Please post your computer specs here.

Hi brettsmods,

Just one suggestion, in surveyor check the 'auto save' time delay, because if it is set very low surveyor spends most of it's time saving your current map!

Have you looked at options on the startup page? I have had similar problems from time to time and I found out that the program had reset the resource cache size to 32. Resetting this back to half my installed memory solved the problem.

Hello

In System Properties click the hardware tab then device manager then click display adaptor their it will tell you what type of Graphics Card your PC has.

Also have ran TrainzDaig?

1. What version of Trainz have you got running on your PC?.
2. Trainz and CMP need atleast min of 2gig of ram to run smoothly on your PC and make sure no other programs are running in the background.
3. What version of windows have you got on your PC, if vista make sure Trainz is installed as an administrator on your PC.
4. Have you ran Trainzdiag? to see if your PC passes all tests to run Trainz: C:\Program Files\Auran\TC\Bin\TrainzDiag
5. Have tried deleting the assets.tdx and assets.bku files? so CMP will re-build the Trainz assets database: C:\Program\Files\Auran\TC\assets.tdx and C:\Program Files\Auran\TC\Cache\assets.bku
6. Have you got Microsoft .NET Framework installed on your PC?.
7. To disable sounds in CMP: In CMP go to file then settings then miscellaneous tab then tick disable sounds in CMP.
8. Have you got the latest video card drivers installed for your Graphics card?, recommended Graphics cards are ATI or Nvidia with a min of 256mb ram.
9. Is Trainz giving you fatal errors? fatal errors are caused by a number of things: Faulty content, Scripting errors, Software configuration or Faulty hardware, threads on Fatal Errors link here and also here.
10. You still can't get CMP or Trainz working then list your PC Spec here.
11. CMP or Trainz still not working for you?, must be a problem with your Trainz installation, you may need to re-install Trainz again. Once you have uninstalled Trainz and rebooted your PC it is handy to use a registry cleaner to remove any remaining entries for Trainz in the Windows Registry, try CCleaner: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ and then reinstall Trainz.
12. Still no joy in getting CMP or Trainz working: must be a hardware or another software issue on your PC.

Hello

Trainz and CMP need atleast min of 2gig of ram to run smoothly on your PC

You can also change the resource cache setting from the options menu, Launch TRS2006 click options.

If you are unable to access options from the trainz launcher then try adding the line

-ResourceMemory=XXX

where XXX would possibly be half your installed memory. I have not tried doing it this way as I have always been able to access the launcher page but it may be worth trying.

I see from your computer specs that you have 1Gb of memory. Enter the line
-ResourceMemory=512
See if it makes any difference.

well, it loaded fater the first time, but when I hovered my mouse over the "Start", it crashed. Tried it again and it's back to the old slow game.... I'm gonna say this again, because maybe I was't clear enough. I installed the game about two years ago, and it worked for a while, Then it started being very slow. So I reinstalled it, and unfortunately lost all of my work. It worked for a while again, but then it was slow again..... I re-installed it and lost everything, and it worked for a while. Now it started to be slow again and I'm tired of always reinstalling it and losing all of ym work... Is there any way to re-install it WITHOUT losing all of the roues and Download Station material?? Bcause it would probably work if I did this. thanks very much to all the people who have helped me so far along the way here.....

You need to back up your local folder regularly. Open windows explorer and open My Computer - Local Disc(C:) - Program Files - Auran - TRS2006. (Assuming that the game is installed on drive C:. If not substitute the appropriate drive letter).

Click once on the local folder to highlight it and then click on the edit menu and select copy to folder. This will bring a box up where you can select the folder in which to store the copy. Possibly use a folder on the desktop but I prefer to store it on an external drive.

When you reinstall TRS2006, delete the local folder in the TRS2006 folder and then drag and drop your backup local folder into the TRS2006 folder .

Next find the assets.tdx file (in the TRS2006 folder) and delete it. Look in the Cache folder and delete the assets.bku file if there is one in there (not always present).

Start trainz up and wait while it rebuilds the assets database which can take quite a long time if you have a lot of downloaded content. You should then have everything back as it was before you reinstalled.
