Please help - TRS2004 problems with downloads

Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum or anything, I'm new to this and TRS.

I recently purchased my copy of TRS2004 Passenger Edition (build 2285). I've downloaded a Virgin Voyager 221 pack to add to the program. When I extract the download, it appears to extract but I get no "successful" notification or anything similar. When I launch TRS, the Voyager is listed in the trains list but there is no picture of it, and I cannot add it to the tracks in surveyor mode.

I have downloaded a number of engines and consists from the Download Station and these also do not work and will not appear on the tracks. In the Railyard I can select the engine or rolling stock but there is no picture of it.

This only happens with things I've downloaded. Anything that already came built into TRS can be added to the tracks. As a newbie, I'm not sure of what I may be doing wrong, but as I've tried everything I can think of I thought it might be time to see if I can get a little help. So I'd really appreciate it if anyone could tell me what I need to do to get these lovely new trains to work with my TRS.

Thank you for any help

Hi, I have found similar problems with downloads from the DLS. You need to make sure that all the items dependancies are also downloaded, e.g. bogies, horn, cab interiors etc. If only one of these is missing then the item will not show.
It can be very confusing to the Newcomer to Trainz, but the basic fact is that all the Kuids must be downloaded otherwise you will continue to experience these problems.
Hope you soon get it sorted out. And Welcome to Trainz2004. :)

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The thing is, this Voyager 221 was bought from "railwaves" - there is only one download for this, I cannot find anywhere to download any missing bits. I've looked on DLS for Voyager 221 parts but cannot find any :(

Thanks for your help anyway

Hi and welcome to the forum
Sounds like you are missing some dependencies for the item in question the best bet is grab your self a copy of Trainz Objectz at
http://www.tafweb-trainz.co.uk/trainzobjectz.html undoubtedly the best utility for sorting out any problems with Trainz itemdownloads

You will also find all the dependences listed on the DLS if you click on Details they should download automatically but this doesn’t always happen

In Trainz Objectz, click the Menu button near bottom right and select "Check For Missing RS Parts" from the resulting menu. RS Parts means rolling stock parts such as bogies, enginespecs, hornsounds, etc. If any are listed, try looking on DLS for them, or contact the people you downloaded the item from, or post the kuid numbers here and someone might know where to get them.

Hope this helps, John
