Placing trackside objects correctly, direction wise.

Have a problem placing trackside objects, specificially speed posts.
When I place them, they face the wrong way on the wrong side of the track, ie: they are on the LEFT side of the track instead of the right, facing the driver. I thought that it was the direction the track was laid, no joy. I thought I had a wrong country selected, Nope, I'm in the USA. I have no idea why they are always on the left side of the track facing the driver. I want them on the right side facing the driver:'(!
Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated!!!

Trackside objects that are no positioned centrally usually come in two versions - left drive or right drive. That refers to the side of the track that they are on when you are facing the object. For a speed sign, it would be the side it is when you can read the speed. The version is often indicated by an appended L or R.

The object will be placed on the track so it is oriented correctly according to the direction in which the track was originally laid. You can change this using the Rotate Object tool.

Your problem sounds like you are using the left-hand version of the object when you should be using the right-hand version. If your speed post does not come in two versions then it might be one that is intended for use only in a specific region.

If you reverse (flip, turn around) the trackside asset, and it is still backwards (on the left) ... perhaps it is a European asset, as their signals and speedboards may be on oposite sides, than US models.

There may be a way to change the orientation in the config file ... but I have never had experience doing so.

Great advice!!! I was wondering about changing the config file, but was a big chicken!!! I was also aware that the speed sign I was using was setup for the wrong side. So I went to an older layout I had worked on, Thanks for keeping it, and found that the sign was "Sign speed xx" I was using "speed xx"! So, All along I was using the wrong sign!!!!!!!! Boy, do I feel dumb!!!!!!
Many thanks for getting my mind in the right gear!
OF ALL THE THINGS I'VE LOST, I MISS MY MIND THE MOST!!!!!!!

Changing config files is a blast ... Clone the asset ... and do experiments on the Clone, change the username line to make it a name, so you can differentiate the two assets.

IE: CSX Speedboard ... becomes CSX Clone Speedboard

I think the trackside numeral is what you change from a negitive to a positive, or versa visa (vise versa). IE: To somthing like trackside 1 ... to trackside -1

The numerical value of trackside is the offset distance in meters from the centerline of the track. The + / - determines on which side it is offset.

Great info for the config changes, didn't think of cloning it and renaming to clone or something. It looks pretty obvious though.
Many thanks!

So, I found some places where I didn't like the placement of the trackside speed sign. Soooo, I took the tips above and modified the distance from the centerline of the track and, IT WORKED!!!!!.
Boy, is this a great game or what!!!!!
Thanks all for the info and help.
Now, on to more fun and games!
Sometimes it is the little things that can give so much satisfaction!!
