placement of cameras

hi all

i see some routes (especially very long ones) do not have any trackside (tracking cameras) is there an easier way to place cameras at random internals rather than to go into surveyor and place them manually?

ok, it would be good if the developers could do this in perhaps a future update Trainz or have the ability to randomly place trackside camera on the route.

While it sounds like a good idea I can see many potential problems. Random placement would also mean random positioning, viewing angle, tracking mode selection, etc. You would also find that many of the cameras would be placed in totally unsuitable positons. All of which would mean you having to spend just at least as much time moving, deleting and reconfiguring them as you would have if you had manually placed them yourself.

The blue "Camera Guide" is best for trackside cameras placement with the center post @ 10 - 20 m from the track, then slightly overlap the next camera guide outer circle by @20 m, then just position the cameras at the blue center post, @ 10 - 20 m from the track, zoomed in, then zoomed out and bumped @ 4 times, and bumped up @ 1 time, on the KB arrow keys ... viewing from more than 50' elevation is very unprototypical, unless you are viewing from the Eifel Tower, or an areoplane FOV ... No one here has a Whirlybird, and uses it to chase and view trains from 150' in the air ... most railfans view trains from @ 5' 7" height, rarely above 30' height from a bridge vantage point
