Picture copying oddity-Overlooking something?

Hi EdrickV

it still seems a shame to introduce so many different elements when one program (IrfanView) does the lot with a single keystroke. Plus "Save" of course.

I posted the link to FSScreen because he seemed to be having trouble with IrfanView. FSScreen is as simple as it gets. You run it, and press PrintScreen. No mucking about with options. :)

Hi all,

Sorry for delay was slightly unwell. Seem to be getting somewhere and fiddled about with both what you said John and Paul.
Went thro' your tutorial again and put a temp folder on the desktop but the pic just showed as black. However I created a ScreenShots folder and put it in Trainz and it saves the picture in TGA although appears black still. However when I went into my new ScreenShots folder inside I then used Irfan View to change to jpg.

What this also did in the ScreenShots folder was to give me a whole batch of TGA pics from a previous route that have all appeared as well! Now I get copies on pictures of the N.I. Railway up - at last! My thanks for your help all. There just had to be an explanation for this frustrating zilch!

If you have an older video card, it sounds like Hardware Acceleration is set to on. it's a bit tricky to change, but it's something you could try to see if it stops the black photos. This is for XP, but you should be able to figure it out for Vista:
  1. Right Click the Desktop.
  2. Choose Properties.
  3. In the next window, choose Settings.
  4. At the bottom of the window, click Advanced.
  5. On the next screen, click the Troubleshoot tag.
  6. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None.
  7. Keep clicking OK until you get back to the Desktop
That may fix your problem. It certainly worked for me when I was trying to take screenshots of YouTube movies

The new settings shouldn't affect Trainz, but if you think it does, just repeat the exercise. In all it takes about 5 seconds.

I have been using the Paint programme for a long time and the copy and paste function works fine However today I seem to have a zilch with Trainz.

I used the usual Print Screen button but when I try to paste into Paint all I get is a black screen. Have tried it with a picture of the screen and with my photographs to make sure it was working and that is okay. But the damn thing stubbornly refused to do anything when I try to copy route pictures for a website. Am I missing something in the obvious here?

I found where pictures are saved in TS2010. Go to: C:\Program Files\Auran\TS2010\ScreenShots

Hi russellwhite2007 and hyderpotter. Thanks for your additional input but you have both overlooked something. It was because I couldn't get the Paint programme to take a picture I raised this thread and I also said that I didn't have a ScreenShots Folder (!). You both may have overlooked this? I have said here I have added a Screenie folder as suggested and I am getting pictures.

John. Thanks for that. It is odd that I have this issue with Paint and paste but will look into that aspect even though I have an alternative route!

At least I am getting the pics copied and can move on!

I did try and click PrtSc button and tryed to paste into paint at First, But a blank picture. I do not know if when I click on PrtSc button, it made the ScreenShots Folder without me knowing. I only known I had a ScreenShots Folder today when I seen this post.

Hi Rjhowie2.

The point of my post was to tell you try holding down ctrl+printscreen button at the same time.

This will take a screen shot that will be put on to you pc clipboard which you can then paste into any paint software.

Fair do's you can only do one shot at a time but I thought it may help you and others........

Sorry if you feel I overlooked somthing but I don't think I did.

Cheers Rusty
