Penn Central RR Large Pics

Yea ! Super job ... Let the war of the "Curve" routes begin !

I can't for the life of me figger' owt' how 4-6 people (a team of tracklayers) can work (TOGETHER) on a route, and merge the completed sections together. Let alone some ceators wanting to charge for their route ... while others are still leaning towards freeware releases of the same route.

I try to help everyone ... I even bought a TRS2004 disc, so that I might be able to back date my TRS2006 route for TRS2004 users.

When I first went to the "Curve" I wondered: "What was beyond the mountain(s)", "between Alto and the Curve" ... "and the Curve to Gallitzin" ... now I know ... as we dint' even have Google Earth, Bing Maps, lt alone PC's ... until a little over 15 years ago. How did we progress so far, so quickly ? ? ? We entered the mecahanical age just a little over 112 yaeas ago ... before that ... the flying machine, the horseless carriage, the semaphore, and was morse code sender/reciever was high tech ... as was the graphite dictograph recorder by Alexander Graham Bell !

We had nuttin' ... 8 track tapes were all the rage, reel to reel tape decks were considered high tech, cassette tapes were the wave of the future, LP's were still manufactured but fazing out, and VCR tape recorders, and full size (15 pound) VCR Video Recorders were $1000 - $1500 ... CD's and DVD's were not yet invented (until the Aliens amongst us brought us the technology) :hehe: Anyone remember solid state electronic parts, and vaaccuumm' tubes looke like ?

Progress

Actually I have been working on this route since 2008. Lost interest in the forums for a long time. I have 47 miles of PRR mainline track completed. Working on Altoona yards, Juniata Shops, Cresson, Gallitzin, and the Curve. There will be some interesting screenshots. Be patient.:hehe:

You, and Mike Evans, first got me interested in making this route ... You're still the King "O" da' "Curve". All hail the mighty Sethmcs ! (tax time must be over). :hehe:

No battle indeed. I am doing this route a) because I live in Johnstown b) I am old enough to remember Penn Central c) I love steel mills to which I built an accurate working model d) Freight cars where built in Johnstown and locomotives and railcars were built in Altoona so I will make a working model of those industries as well and e) I like to impress Casacerailroad.:hehe:

The amazing thing is this route is built TRS2004 that I bought for $19.95 and found that I need a $6,000 HP workstation to run it.

TRS2006 & TRS2004 fun with fairly good framerates on @ $500 laptops, and inexpensive desktops, that have no video card ... PC's that have only Integrated Graphics.

And impress me ... You Do ! Keep up the great work !

I'm glad to see this route is back in the works (or still in the works, as the case may be). Nice to see more screenies!

No, Jcalmx55 and Stevelerro are building the same route.

Correct, Steve makes the some of the scenery when I need it and I'm in charge of the rest lol So far he's made mg tower and hes still working on the ventnation fans for gallitzin

I don't think the higher, much shorter (primarily eastbound) Portage tunnel ever had ventelation fans ... both the Gallitzin and Allegheny tunnel had ventelation fans on the Tunnelhill east side of the mountain. The Gallitzin tunnel fans were the first to be removed, then the Allegheny tunnel fans were removed, as they were a rusting hulk. Both the Gallitzin and Allegheny tunnel (primarilary westbound) tunnels were filled with exhuast smoke in the years after the fans removal.

The Galitzin tunnel has been sealed off with cinderblocks, as it had several collaping rocks inside, and trespassers had to be kept out (the cyclone barbed wire fence was not enough of a deterant to those with bolt cutters).

The -2.37% "Slide", once 2 tracked Portage tunnel, is now single tracked.

Are you still using TRS2004, instead of TS2009 ?

You're the second guy who has posted screenshots of those switchstands ... where can one obtain them, what is the Name, or Kuid: ? I seem to remember them on East Coast Trainz site with red/white targets ? ... Hmmm ... My Memory just took a crash dump again. :hehe:
