Sandancer, I had the same 'want' as you but had to what until I had 2009 to be able to get them as they are not available for 2006

Presflo pressurised cement hopper

So - it's true then. In order to get a Presflo (no matter in which livery), we have to purchase a complete other version of Trainz? Something's askew here if they are only made available exclusively to TC3 surely? Observation of a newcomer.

Hi

As you have TS2010 don't bother with TC3 but get the S&C add on for 2009 instead (it works fine in 2010 and TS12 as well). You will get the Presflo wagons with it along with a lot of locos and vehicles which have been made to the highest standards and it all runs in Native mode in 2010. You will also be able to download the extra vehicles and locos (including a class 45) from this website

http://www.settleandcarlisle.co.uk/index.html

You will need to have the add on as the rolling stock requires the dependencies contained in it. The add on is well worth getting for the rolling stock alone but you also get the excellent S&C route as well.

Regards

Brian

It's probably not too hard to figure out why this is, but I'll give you a clue. If all of the rolling stock and scenery assets for the S&C were on the DLS would you buy the pack?

Kennilworth: I will try the Settle & Carlisle add-on though, to see if that is the solution, thanks. £13.86 in £s at the moment, so probably another bargain.

Fran1: Thanks for trying, but, as Kennilworth mentions, it reports missing (unknown) dependencies every time when you download it from Settle&Carlisle.co.uk (Rail-Sim.co.uk mask). The dependencies therefore must be a built-in element with TC3 and S&C, so without one of those sets, one cannot complete the validation of the model. As I have suggested, there is a marketing element at play here. Not a problem, though - everyone has to make a living!

Thanks once again, all.

Fair comment if that was my motive - but my one and only motive was to obtain just one item of rolling stock which was NOT EXCLUSIVE to that line - in fact, wherever Associated Portland Cement Marketing Company, or Blue Circle, operated, there were Presflos as far as the eye could see.

This obviously included Westbury Wiltshire, which is my point of reference. And as a point of reference, it is very far removed (in the geographical sense too) from the areas of Settle and Carlisle - by choice, these would not naturally be of interest to me, and I am not being a British xenophobic in saying that. Back in the day, I spent many a dreary freezing foggy working day as a carriage and wagon repairer, in minus-10 and worse temperatures sometimes, on top of what looked like an endless line of Presflos, chipping away hardened cement, with a hammer and cold chisel, from round the top hatches to improve air-tightness.

Doesn't much sound like bliss, and it wasn't, but it is now one hell of a nostalgia kick, and getting better due to Trainz. I don't have the expertise to re-create to the Nth degree the Westbury line, with its grand 5-way crossover point involving the London, Cornwall, Bristol, Portsmouth and Weymouth lines. However, I am working towards putting together a rough hybrid for myself, but am feverishly reading tutorials and experimenting in surveyor at the moment.

Sorry, I started rambling there. Thanks everyone.

As a newcomer, you are forgiven for being a little cynical. However, the "Trainz Classics" series - TC1, 2 and 3 and then superceded by "Settle and Carlisle" were collaboration projects between "train-sim" and those people at "Auran Trainz" and not really seen as a replacement for any of the Trainz products.

The asset creators mike10, paulhobbs among others were heavily involved in the "Trainz Classics" scene and lovingly provided us with a wealth of downloads long after the release dates. I suggest you take a trip over to:

http://www.settleandcarlisle.co.uk/index.html

- have a gander at all the additional downloads you get access to once you bite the bullet and buy Settle and Carlisle. For me, the semaphore signals and the 1960's/70's road vehicles made it all worthwhile - and did someone mention Mike10's realistic models of the entire Mk1 coaching stock in all liveries?

All the best - Ian

Hi Ian

Don't get me wrong - I have just been online, bought and downloaded Settle & Carlisle, and was glad to, as that was what was required. The only slight puzzle, as I said, was the idea that the Presflo (and no doubt many other types too) might be seen as exclusive to Settle and Carlisle areas, being, as they are, unavailable to the general Trainz public in the Download Station (or actually as Payware anywhere else for that matter). This is not some kind of campaign to rectify that, merely an observation. As long as the more long-standing and dedicated Trainzers can see the logic and the principle contained in what I am saying, I am fine with it, and that's an end to the subject. Must get on and install S&C and get my head round some of the finer technical points within the Trainz apps.

Cheers.

Lee,

It was probably a matter of freeware content creators not getting around to making this particular wagon. There are many freight cars (wagons across the pond), that have not been made in the freeware arena, but are available in payware, and vice a versa.

I don't want to bang on any more about this. Presflos are not available as Payware outside of TC3 or S&C, which is my whole point. They don't have to be free, I just feel they should be available outside those two versions. The end. ;)
