Hi Trainzers,

As some of you may know, one of my utilities is my PC Information Application (which has been known under other names as well)

I can now proudly announce that version 2.1 has now been released.

For those who have not used the tool before, it can be used for various purposes, although it's main function is to assist with gathering system specifications.

Changes since version 2

  • Extended Graphics Info - this is a new option in the Utilities submenu, which gives more information if available for your graphics card. Bear in mind though that it may not make much sense, and at the moment the only way of copying from that screen is to select all the text, right-click, then click Copy.
  • Enhanced information on the Get System Information screen - the program can now identify what type of system it is (Desktop, Laptop etc)
  • Help message at the bottom of the program window.
Downloading the tool

At the moment, the tool can only be downloaded from the following link: http://trainz.shaneturner.co.uk/pcinformationapplicationv2-1.exe

Over the next day or two, I will be adding the link to my tutorial website, which can be found at http://trainz.shaneturner.co.uk/tutorials/

Comments/Questions?

If you have a comment or question, feel free to post it here, or send me a private message if the comment/question contains sensitive information.

Important - this tool requires Administrator privileges for parts of the tool, and will cause a User Account Control prompt when it is opened on Windows Vista, 7, or 8.

Hi Shane,

Tried out your information application and it works well and fast. The only fail I had was the internet connection test. It apparently cannot find www.auran.com on the ping test. However all other ping tests were 100%.
This tool would be most useful when people are posting problems that require system and version info. The patch app is a good idea.

Nice tool, Shane. Everything I wanted to know about my PC but was afraid to ask! :)

Thankyou for your comments both of you.

I can replicate the auran.com related error, and am now checking my log files (network.log, which should be in the same folder as the application) to identify why.

I will be uploading an update later on today that will hopefully fix the issue.

Shane

EDIT: It appears to not be writing log information either, so I will check that as well.

I have just re-uploaded the file, with a fix for the error mentioned in the previous comments. If you downloaded the previous version, re-download it to get the fix.

An update...

I have just uploaded a minor revision to version 2.1, which now has the following addition:

Networking Component can now check the connectivity status of N3V's ITrainz/Multiplayer server.
