PATCO Train

There's some good scale (blueprint) drawings of these cars on pages 50 and 51 of "The Lindenwold Hi-Speed Line" by J. William Vigrass. I can scan these pages if anyone wants them and cannot get a hold of that book. It's from 1990 and was published by the West Jersey Chapter of the NRHS.

Scripting the signals should be easy enough. When the route gets far along, let me know.

What are you going to do for the Ben Franklin Bridge and tunnels?

Thanks guys, RR Signal and shark nose have you ever rode the PATCO before? And thank you for the signal scripting help, I'll let you know when I need them. And I really need someone to make the PATCO cars. And as for the Ben Franklin Bridge I'm not sure yet.

Many times. I used to live near Collingswood, NJ and commuted into Philadelphia when I went to classes at Temple University in the early 80's. I made a "front seat" video myself in 2002 all the way from Lindenwold to 16th Street and back again. :)

I actually just checked my bookshelf and I have that book! Great track diagrams!

Build the route, do a good job, and I'm sure someone will make the cars. Actually, I think the landrvr1 Silverliners could make for a reasonable facsimile of the PATCO cars on the outside With a reskin and, more importantly, with a new cab with cab signalling, you'd have a pretty spot-on loco.

But, at least for me, the trains don't matter without a place to run them! :)

Here's a video of the New Jersey part of the line, terminating at 8th/Market. < Change here for SEPTA Regional Rail. >

I know I'm dredging up an old thread, but I wondered if you'd made any further progress on the PATCO line, josefdoc. I know your CSX Trenton Line has been looking good from the screenshots on your other thread.

With TANE settling down into a stable release, I've been puttering around with re-skinning an old NY subway car by magicland to something that resembles the PATCO train. I could make a new train in Blender, but at my skill level, it would most likely take a year or two. :hehe:

I'm really getting into it and have designed the texture-group destination signs for the vintage cars. I found my old 2002 video from the railfan seat and am going to try and capture sounds from it. I know I can get a good horn sound from the video at least. :D

I see that PATCO has been getting refurbished cars and changed the old placard destination signs with LCD ones and I made a texture group for them as well. I've got a ways to go yet, but I thought you might be interested.
