Passenger Enabled Stations.

Could someone please explain, chapter & verse, how to set up passenger enabled
stations. I have tried to use the AJS invisible platforms. I have tried using the
'call at' rule, and 'navigate to' without success. All that happens, (using AI trains),
is a messge saying 'no path to selected destination'. Grateful for any help.

You need to actually join the AJS station to the existing track by chopping out a piece of the original track.

On curved platforms especially, add quite a few extra spline points so that you can maintain the curve. Line up the AJS station where you need it. Then add the spline points just on either side of the AJS splines, delete the piece of the original track and join to the AJS splines.

Where you want just passengers you can just lay the AJS station on top of the original track no join is required but call the station xxxx DUMMY so that you know that the navigate to or Call at will not work ie the are for decoration only and are easier than adding individual people.

I added AJS stations to the whole of ECML some stations were too difficult especially elevated platforms, others I needed to add them at session level, mostly I found the only effective method was at route level using Dummies where people were needed.

If you have connected the track to the invisible station spline points as described by Ken, this error message is caused by either a break in a track spline point anywhere between your starting point and the station involved (it could be miles away) or that AI cannot work out a path to follow because a junction is not fully signalled or it needs some help in working out a route by using Navigate to/via Trackmarks along the path.

It can take a bit of finding but I usually firstly drive the whole section up to the station in DCC mode to eliminate the possibility of a broken track spline point (train will de-rail if there is one). If that is OK then I place some trackmarks along the way and use Navigate to Trackmark command to trackmarks further then further away from the starting point to indentify exactly where AI is having the problem.

Thank you Ken, I wasn't aware that the tracks had to be physically joined to the
invisible station, as this is not mentioned anywhere. Once I did this, the whole thing
worked perfectly.
Cheers, Dick Turpin.

I found out too the error can be caused by a direction trackmark facing in the wrong direction too. This will drive you nutty since everything obvious looks fine on first pass, and when you drive the train yourself everything works, but if you have the AI drive, they'll go into a snit over the spot. I've found these things by walking the line and looking at everything.
