Party Train to Las Vegas

This reminded me of the time I suggested to my wife that we ride the Trans-Siberian across Russia for a New Year's holiday trip. She lived in Moscow for 13 years. Her reply: "A week stuck on a train full of drunks. Are you crazy?!?" :D

I spent 22 hours on Amtrak from Miami to Washington DC with nothing to do and COULDN'T drink: I was riding on Amtrak's dime to interview for hire as a Railroad Police Officer, and thought the interview wouldn't go well if I showed up completely blasted and said "What do you expect? I've been trapped in a train for the past day!" Even on that short of a ride, I'd have HAD to have gotten trashed in short order. I'm sure I'd go insane for a full week!

While in the US Air Force I got tired of flying so much and rode Amtrak from San Bernardino to Indianapolis three times, a two-and-a-half day journey. I brought my own "refreshments" and always had good luck meeting pretty girls on the train. The third trip was during the 1977 blizzard and, I swear, I woke up on the morning we rolled into Kansas City with a cute gal cuddled up on my shoulder, sharing my blanket and trying to keep warm! Had no idea who she was or where she came from, but it was a most pleasant surprise. :p

I image the Vegas party train might have some good looking ladies aboard, too, IF the deal goes through.

The X-Train is probably mild compared to Jackie Gleason's $80,000 4,337 mile, cross-country party-train excursion that took place in the early 1960s.
