Overhead lights with light cone

Thai1On

Slave to my route
Does anyone know of an asset that is an overhead light with both a light pool, but also the cone of light coming down from it? Similar to the picture below except I need it about maybe 10 feet off the ground to be used for passenger platform lighting. Also, I would prefer white light.

Good Morning Sir,

I don't have any of these, hopefully some others here will know what they are.

They look very interesting and cool. ;)

I have fiddled with these, but unfortunately the light does NOT light up the object(s) inside the cone. The only lights in Trainz that actually light up the area are the headlights of a locomotive.

I know at one time someone was experimenting with using locomotive headlights for lighting, but I don't think it worked.

Seems a little odd, doesn't it? If you can turn a loco on end and use it for a light, why could there not be just a light with the same components?

This has been an ongoing issue with all iterations of trainz for at least 18 years that I have been playing. Complaining in the past first with Auran , then N3V. But to no avail. Nothing in sight. Lots of big bang stuff being produced for future games. Great. But this? Nope nothing . Nada. Missing in action. Something so vital when operating in nightmode. The "other" simulator does this successfully and has been doing so for years. Yet here in the dark of Trainz sim world? Shrugs..meh.

We used light cones when modeling scenes in 3ds R4 DOS version back in the early mid-90s at a company I worked for.

To show the object on the ground receiving light, the object as to glow, otherwise the light producer and cone will light up but the object on the ground will appear dark or dull.

Seems I remember someone making a light using the Locomotive headlight. I don't know who and I don't know if it worked. Hmmmmm---- This gives me an idea. Could you make a streetlight, for example, that sits on a stretch of invisible track, and has the config of a locomotive but using the a.light0 point as the light source. Hmmmmmm.............

Because that is how you absolutely blow your computer up. The resources required for those "components" would wreck performance on the highest of computers. DirectX12 support coming soon will be the closest to "point lighting" that games will necessarily be able to get.
