Operating a rail line

Hello,
What do they mean when they say you can operate your own rail line in trainz 12?
Do they mean like managing a busyness?
Picking up loads at industries and delivering them for cash?

Operations usually means the orderly movement of traffic over the route. This includes making deliveries and pick-ups at your customer industries, keeping trains moving on schedule and making sure there are no traffic jams.

This can be accomplished in any version of Trainz, but in TRS2012, you have the benefit of having more than one player so more than one train can be controlled by a human and not have to rely on AI. If you want to learn more about operations, I suggest Model Railroad Operations SIG as a starting point. Lots of resources there that will answer most of your questions. There are a few Trains sessions that will give you a taste of prototype operations on the DLS. CN Holly Sub Pontiac Yard Ops is one of mine.
