old trees texture files

Made a big mistake.
Mucking about with trees texture files in 2009 I changed the "Open with" to Notepad without thinking.
Now all tree texture files open with notepad which doesn't help at all.
Could someone please tell me what should go after the "Open with" in the trees texture files so I can change it back?
Thanks
Stuart.

Do you have IrfanView? That is a good general-purpose image viewer to associate with your image, audio, and video files. ;)

Regards.

No. I don't have that one.
I would like to return to the default file but I will give it a try.
I hope someone can help with the original.
I like to fiddle with the Texture file to stop the shuddering I get with some tree groups.
Thanks for the suggestion.

If you install IrfanView, it should give you the option to automatically associate it with various file types.

It is the file type that I have lost.
I can't remember what the file type was that I changed to cause this mess I am in.

Very easy to fix.

Right-mouse click on the texture file (don't open it).

Choose Open with... from the contextual menu.

Choose default program. Browse for the correct program such as Irfanview, or some other image-editing program you have installed.

Click on that and ensure that you've chosen the right program and click on apply and okay.

From now on, the files will be opened by the proper program instead of the incorrect one such as Notepad.

Thank you for the help.
It is working again.
One day I will find out what the original file type was but, for the moment all is well.
Thanks again.
Stuart.
