Old IRC Chat?

Hello all,

Long time no see I suppose.
I have been lurking around the forums the past few weeks debating to myself whether or not to re-install Trainz when I redo my OS.

After seeing some old faces I remembered back to the old IRC chat when we would talk about Trainz and other railroad related things. Lets not forget the little bit of fun we had when we started being nasty; kicking the SpamBot and even each other late at night if we got mod privileges when AJ wasn't looking. :hehe:

Anyway, I miss the old place and was wondering if there has been any attempt to restore the IRC chat for the Trainz community? Even a third party outside Auran/N3V to get one up and running. I found that the most help came from IRC chat and the most fun out of Trainz (for me) and since it was shut down I found myself actually growing away from Trainz and eventually leaving the forums for sometime.

So is there any news of this or even any interest?

There is a #trainz chatroom set up on the Austchat IRC servers. I have a web-based interface set up over on AMTZ. However no one ever visits there that I see. Trainz Commuter Rail has a Java chatroom set up as well that sees marginally better activity then #trainz, however it is java based & so isn't as flexible as IRC.

Another old face, good to see you Peter!
Last time I tried to access that chat through mIRC (way back when the Auran IRC went down) I got dumped numerous times and ultimately gave up.

Too bad it isn't active, it is a pity to see such a nice feature and experience in my opinion go.

I will give it a go again though just to see.

Hey Peter, just tried to AustChat again through mIRC and still not getting anything. It keeps setting me on a +iwx mode.

Long time no see, as afar as i am aware the AURAN/NV3 IRC chat room will be a memory of the past and will stay there as the higher ups do not think it is viable.
Which i think is a pity.

Hey AJ and Poul,

Thanks for the welcomes, it is good to be back. Once my HDD comes in (sometime next week as Newegg doesn't ship this weekend due to a holiday) I am planning on installing Trainz to it with the OS and get back into this.

It is a pity that they do not feel that IRC chat is no viable. I do not have the internet connection to be online in a video game. I already go over around 10GB of our monthly 10GB anyway!
A in-game chat is not practical for me as I am in Surveyor more than driver where the chat would be most optimally used.

Is there one in use?

Otherwise i could open one on my IRC Server...
